Princess Celestia's history with Spike goes back a long way, back before he was even laid. His mother, one of Celestia's oldest and dearest friends, had gifted Spike to her with the hope that he could grow up in a world that loved him.
But Spike hadn't been alone.

These days, the dragoness who mothered Spike is all but a forgotten memory, though the legacy of her brood lives on...
... in the magic of Equestria itself.

That was fantastic:pinkiehappy:

Calling it right now on Lunar Hearts being a changeling.

Lunar Hearts is somewhat of a running gag in my stories. It's a... steamy romance novel about Luna's past before the Nightmare that she herself wrote.

Oh, thanks for the clarification. It looked like a really good opportunity to introduce changelings into the story due to Argus' ability to see magic being able to 'see' past the changeling's disguise. Sorry for assuming that Lunar Hearts was a changeling and not a book.

I must say I enjoyed it, I was a bit concerned at how something so powerful managed to get loose without anyone noticing but it cleared up nicely. Also I'm a bit miffed the story is so short and cover so little. But really that's just me. I like long stories, particularly doorstoppers. So don't worry about that point. Blueblood got a browbeating which was nice, especially since it didn't just make him some kind of absolute moron just to be a jerk.

Love it, though he would be able to relate to Discord, I feel, having been trapped in gold for eight centuries to Discord's stony millennium.

Thanks for this, I've gone back and fixed these issues. And as for him disliking Discord it's... complicated. A begrudging acknowledgment of a sort of kinship since they were both entombed for so long would be there, but I wanted him to dislike Discord simply because he upsets the magical balance of the world around him.

His mere presence could pose a serious threat since he could, arguably, distort the very magic that keeps Argus alive, and therefore do irreparable damage to Argus himself.

This needs a sequel.

Interesting. I think they were unfairly harsh on the father of Ajax in the sequel, though.
If anything, that would be a spell to try to recreate...
That was a useful bungle; after all, it makes for a great worst-case healing spell.

I swear there should be a sequel to this
