Loyal

Just a dude. Writes horsewords... with varying regularity.

This story is a sequel to Roar

Friendship can only go so far, and after one of those friends goes far enough to take her own life, it leaves the others depressed and forlorn. A chain of six, shattered by one link, until the other five can't even look at one another without thinking about what happened.

Twilight spends her days in a dark Trottingham apartment, chased by memories and haunting visages of what happened. What went wrong. What she could have done.

A visit from Fluttershy may be just what she needs... or another reminder of her failure. Their failure.

Short and punchy...and it packs a bit of a wallop too. Nice job!

/and yes, I do believe I'd like to see the others' reactions as well. :)

Ok. So after reading this and "Roar" I still have no clue what happened to Rainbow. Did she trip over her wings? Discord slapped her out of the air? AJ apple bucker her? Heck Roar did not need a sequel it needed a prequel.

She crashed so hard that doctors had to cut her wings off.

She remembered stopping, feeling it all come to an end. The world caught up to her, broken bones and all. In half a heartbeat, Rainbow Dash's world had become stillness. Quiet, calm, indomitable stillness.

No doctors telling you you'll never fly again.
No screams as the scalpels cut your skin.

Sorry, but you need to practice your reading skills young padawan.

6945718 Really thank for clearing to up. :rainbowlaugh: Now I will make it simpler for you. How did she crash? Why did she crash? Why was she left alone in that shape? So did she trip over her wings? Discord smack her out of the air? AJ apple bucked her? By the Han shot first.:rainbowkiss:

6945929 what happened to rainbow to cause the events of roar are irrelevant, but you've been looking at this one the same way as roar. The the events leading up to the story are meaningless apart from "it happened" because they are unchangeable that way. Their unchanging nature is what helps to drive the stories' plots onward.

Oh, and excellent fics btw Loyal.

6946512 "The the events leading up to the story are meaningless" To you maybe. I do not feel the same. Plus I never said it was not well written. If feel like a chapter to me not a complete story.

6946636 I never said that you said it wasn't well written, but the events prior to this particular set of stories is not meant to be thought about so much, they don't really matter from a reader's perspective apart from the fact that they happened. Writing a prequel depicting the accident would ruin the feel of the 'verse we've been given here.

6945929 Rainbow crashed quite often in the show, but she rarely gets hurt, which means she simply flew more recklessly than before.

As you see in Remorse, being in the state of depression, crippled either physically or mentally can make you really bitter. Rainbow was both. Her body, dreams and mind crushed, it is possible she just drove her friends away. It is almost impossible to know when to comfort them or not.

Twilight´s and Fluttershy´s problem is basically the same. Twilight chooses solitude, Fluttershy wants to help, Twilight lashes out against her friend, who has nothing evil on her mind.

Twilight is the Element . . . no Princess of Friendship. She thinks she is at fault because she didn´t know how to handle the situation. She even grew wings for figuring out Star Swirls first and only Spell involving friendship. I guess you can imagine how their conversations went.

Plus: don´t look at our comments as criticism against you. We are explaining our interpretations of the story to you.

Honestly, you guys, it was an exercise in descriptive writing. I wanted to focus on the tactile feel of the world around the characters, amplifying their internal dialogue and struggle. The 'why' or 'how' of the story isn't nearly as important as the 'what,' and the what of Roar and Remorse is both solitude and depression - something I happened to be struggling with quite a bit of late. It's nice seeing all the speculation, but to the three of you (Facturedheart in particular) I say take the story at face-value. If you don't like it or don't like the myriad of questions the events leading up to the window I've given present, then downvote and move on. Quite frankly, the story was never meant to be anything more than practice, to try and get me to shake off this funk. If you can't or won't fill in the gaps of the story with your own imagination (again, to you in particular, Fracturedheart,) then that's too bad.

What's there is what you get. Take it or leave it.

In all seriousness, however, I'd like to thank you all for reading my work... it feels like I'm not getting the pull I used to, and to put it bluntly It's getting to me. It shouldn't, ought not to, but it is, and it's weighing rather heavily on my mind. Seeing comments of any flavor keep that glimmer alive, and hopefully keep me producing. Because to be honest, I'm right on the brink of throwing in the towel for good.

Readers like you keep me going. Negative and nit-picky as you may or may not be, you keep that flame alive. It's for you that I wait for my next 'Archmage' to take the site by storm.

Sorry, I did. (look below)

6946724 thanks for the clarification, I cant really help but look at things and see some form of metaphor or something. It doesn't matter what I read, it just happens. I was pretty sure I was over-analyzing both the stories on some level when I started commenting, but I always do that and as such have become rather bad at controlling it. I'd be the person who'd look at a painting of a dot and find some huge monumental message in it, when the painter just wanted to paint a dot.

As for your take it or leave it bit, I can't help but take it. These pieces, no matter why you wrote them, are perfect.

thanks for writing these!

You know better than anyone I can´t just look at the what.

Even though I neglected writing, reading, and reviewing for a while now, I am still interested in discussions about the stories I worked with. Especially Roar, which is one of my favourites and I have a small project in mind because of it.

So, sorry again. Maybe I sounded more passioned about it than I should have. But a life without passions feels dull.:pinkiehappy:

This was a nice little read.
