She tasted blood.
As she lay on the ground, huddled in a ball, she saw a dozen pair of hooves move past without a sound. Without caring. Let them.
She didn’t need them. She didn’t need anypony.
Dimly, she was aware that she was going to die. It seemed like that should make her mad. Like she should want to hurt something. But she was just too tired. All she did was fight and struggle and fall.
She just wanted to rest.
Somewhere, far away, a voice.
“Oh dear. Oh…oh dear. Come on, up you get. I can help.”
Hope.

It's always interesting when you can identify characters with most of the cues shaved off. Or think you can. Then you wonder if it's really a correct interpretation of subtle clues or your mind playing tricks on you. And that's my long winded way of saying: That is certainly Fluttershy at the end and the POV character sounds like your Rainbow Dash, but could just as easily be anyone with a certain kind of pride, even Trixie.
Also: A dozen pairs of hooves? So six ponies? Something about talking in pairs for quadrupeds feels off.
1234647 Heh. I'm not sure if you actually WANT me to tell you who the characters are, so I shan't - but I will say that that's one of the things I always love when I read a story: being able to identify the characters without being told who they are. And yeah, the pairs thing was a flub on my part. Whoops.
