I'm a long time science fiction and animation fan who stumbled into My Little Pony fandom and got caught -- I guess I'm a Brony Forever now.

YOH 1480 - Pot Mender is a tinker mare, an intinerant tradespony on the fringes of Equestrian rustic society. Goldie Pie is a highly-educated and well-respected medical professional, the midwife who serves South Dunnich, Nickerlite and much of the northeastern fringe of the White Tail Hills. Goldie Pie doesn't much like Pot Mender. But the day will come when Pot Mender will have her chance to do a deed of worth, and accomplish something of great importance to Goldie.

In the first paragraph, you have: "hanging from hooks on its side panels were all manner of metal gods:"
I don't know if you mean that, or metal goods, but I figured I'd point it out just in case.

This looks like the promising start to a very engaging story. I wish you the best of luck! :)

Thank you for noticing that, as it was a damaging typo -- it changed meaning unfortunately. No, Pot Mender isn't repairing and selling metal idols, though she might if there were a market for them. The ones she carries on her wagon are mostly ones she found on trash heaps, fixed up, and resells both to householders and sometimes to small shops. It's a small profit margin sort of business, which is why she isn't exactly rolling in bits. Plus, she has very poor self-discipline and tends to respond to the occasional big haul by carousing rather than savings or even capital formation.

7093634 - Ah, very good then. Idol trafficking tends to be a risky business. There's a professor at Marshall College, who teaches Archaeology 101 who could attest to that. :twilightsheepish:

A watched pot never boils, the filly thought to herself, and -- taking the old aphorism perhaps too literally -- heaped wood into the stove's firebox, and then ran off to play with her friends.

Wow. That is Crusader-level logic right there, if not worse. After all, the Apples trusted Apple Bloom to stay home alone with the stove.

In any case, I wasn't expecting you to pursue this particular story, but I do look forward to seeing what you make of it, especially given Pot Mender's incredible metallurgical magic.

It's kind of sad, really, considering the neglectful way she's being brought up. I'm not sure that leaving her where she was in a position to burn down the house was the smartest move, either, even though the worst consequences didn't happen. Pot Mender is not exactly a careful and prudent Pony, but this is in part maternal example: Cornflower really isn't that great a mother.

Here I see a filly then a mere how perhaps isn't the most wise or thoughtful, but who at least will try and doesn't mean much harm. And It's kinda sad in a way that her mother in her quest to cure her loneliness didn't even know that her child was almost molested or worse. Heck Pot's mother just sent her away to wander the world with very little advice.

Here's hoping some good comes to the poor filly.
