This story was absolutely adorable! All biological confusion aside, I truly enjoyed the attention to detail and creative vocabulary ("gofers gofering"). Some may have found this awkward to read, but I found it a very well-painted portrait of Rainbow Dash embracing what it means to be a mother, and I applaud you for that.

The author could be implying that Dash is the one who actually gave birth to the foal. Remember this line? "The little one didn't look like it wanted a bottle anyway. It craved the real deal."
That (and the remark of Dash's about "instant formula") pretty much tells us that the foal normally gets formula in a bottle. Wingbone's also has instincts that tell him where he can always find food: mommy's teats.
...aaaand I overanalyzed the fic again. Even though I should despise it on principle.
