This was actually quite cute. Totally caught me by surprise.
Some nasty comments on this story. I suppose that's to be expected on the internet, it's just disappointing to find those comments on a site dedicated to a show where accepting others' differences is a large part of the message.
Over all, this was cute. Not great, but cute. My biggest problem is probably how quickly those two decided they were suddenly in love and wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Sure, maybe some people are that reckless, but usually that's just a sign of poor story telling. Still, it was generally cute and inoffensive (though I feel it was missing explicit confirmation that no, Quarterback is not gay), so I'm happy enough with it.

This is just.. so gross. In every way.
1) Dudebro gets dragged to a gay bar, and one of the first things he does is start hitting on the women there?
2) A trans mare's name just happens to be "Crossy Dress"? Because what she's doing is totally cross-dressing, amirite?
3) Dudebro practically forcing her to 'strip' because he couldn't get his head around the concept? In the middle of nowhere, while it's pouring rain?
4) And then.. AND THEN. The whole "well gosh darnit I guess I'm gay now" thing! Why the hell would liking a trans mare, who by the way is very much on the feminine end of the scale, make him gay?
5) Not to mention all the while he's pondering this, he just casually outs her because why the hell not.
So so so gross. This had potential, it really did, and it's honestly a real shame that it was wasted like this. Hairspray deserves better. Vidala deserves better.
