When Apple Bloom discovers a strange phenomenon among the bushes outside of Canterlot High, she meets Apple Bloom, a talking pony no less, and together with their respective friends they venture out into the other world, exchanging places in an attempt to learn as much as they can about the strange new worlds without being found out as impostors.
But one such human has already begun to suspect, one who is a part of both worlds.

I'm confused. Which AB asked about the Cutie Marks the human version? she wouldn't know what that is. In the second movie she mentions the crusaders but doesn't call them the CMC cause she doesn't have or know what a cutie mark is.
When the pony version says their cutie marks must be the same the human version should ask what a cutie mark is cause she has never heard that word before.

To be honest, the emphasis on the CMC in equestria girls is very small so in reply to your previous comment whether they're called the cutie mark crusaders or not isn't that important; I just thought it would make things easier rather than changing everything for the human world.
In response to your recent comment, the way that the story is written suggests that they are called the cutie mark crusaders in the human world too. So when it said, "Ya mean a cutie mark is an actual thing?", that was AB questioning the meaning of their logo, since in this story ive made it out that they just made the word up. But yes, you have a point. I just didn't want to spend too long on the whole cutie mark thing since the reality of meeting yourself would be far more important.
Nice Story hope for an update and the way I see it the two who are most likely to figure out what is going on are Sunset and Princess Twilight for obvious reasons.

I'm surprised the human girls didn't notice that they're now naked.
I'm really enjoying this story so far. It's funny that the pony CMC are having way more problems fitting in than the human versions, but that makes sense doesn't it? Humanity has some pretty big concepts that a pony would have a hard time wrapping their head around, but in reverse not so much. Plus, the whole carnivore->vegetarian thing is very noticeable for humans, if they weren't before, and it's easier to stomach occasional vegetarian meals as an omnivore than stomaching meat when you never had it before.
If a pony goes through the portal, then changes clothes and goes back, then returns, would clothes change?

Personally, I don't get it.
7297022 There's a strong implication that Starswirl made the mirrors. Remember, the MLP universe has some fairly blatant references to Camelot and Arthurian legend, especially surrounding Canterlot and Starswirl himself. If you assume Starswirl was Merlin, it clicks together a lot better. And part of that would be Starswirl/Merlin knowing that you can't just transit from pony-world to human-world naked or you get all sorts of the wrong kind of attention.
So the likeliest explanation is that Starswirl deliberately enchanted the mirror to make sure the transformed ponies would be clothed in whatever the local fashion at the time of transition was, so as to make sure they blend in. This little attention to detail would have come in very handy when the portal is used again a thousand years later, presumably after being donated to CHS from wherever in England it had been before that. Thus, the ponies traveling through come out dressed as locals, instead of wearing period English clothing. :)
As for why the portal-shard should have the same powers as the regular portal, I'd hazard a guess that it's simple proximity. It's so close to the actual mirror portal that the magical device is influencing its behavior. If the natural portal was farther away, that wouldn't happen.

Uh oh, looks like Sunset's figuring it out. But then again, I wonder what the girls reactions are going to be from both worlds. Probably want to have fun with them first before they bust them.
It's very amusing watching this double culture shock on both sides. And I'm pretty sure the human side is busted already (though if they'll do something about it is another question), and the pony side is getting close to the same state.
