After reading some more of this, I can definitely say that I like it. Your characters are reasonably fleshed out and the story you're trying to tell is layered with depth and nuance. The keyword being trying. There are many glaring grammatical issues, and even some points where establishment/scene setting sentences are absent where they shouldn't be. If you got an editor to iron out those technical flaws, more people would be able to see this story for what it is: pretty good.

7464797 It sadly makes all too much sense for MLP. Their names means their marks and vice versa. What happens when you name your kid something not entirely 'cute and cuddly'. Cause, unless I missed something in the two seasons I haven't watched, the same thing with poor old Sombra(Meaning darkness, or shadow)
7466518 Yes it does make sense. I'm not sure how far it goes, but for most ponies, besides Pinkie Pie and Cadence, their cutie marks are directly linked with their names. Cadence is the major exception where her name has little to do with ruling the Crystal Heart. Other than that, most ponies live and breathe their names though their work. So, I am going to assume that like Rarity, they can do things that are not related to their Cutie Mark / Name, completely ignoring it would become harder and harder, so it is like an addiction, a magic addiction to carry out your destiny.
