Chapter 29: Fear of the Unknown

We all awake to a shouting Carriage driver
“Hey wake up” shouts the driver
“Hmmm…yeah what is it” I say tiredly
“I can’t take you any further than this it’s too dangerous up ahead” shouts the driver
We all step outside and see the rubble of fallen buildings, trees that have been set ablaze and the sky blackened by the death and destruction of PonyVille, It was one of the most horrific sights any pony should never have to see.
“Hey driver, could you look after the dress in there and you will be rewarded for your efforts”
“Depends on the reward” says the driver seeing how much bits he can get from me
“Hows 1,000 bits sound”
“Alright I’ll look after it but im not going anywhere near that town” says the Driver parking his carriage on the side of the dirt road
“Well you guys read” I say nervously
“Only if yawl are” says Applejack her voice a little shaky
“What about you Dash?”
“Im always ready” says Dash warming up, “so what’s the plan”
“Well…I kind off don’t have one” I reply with a nervous smile on my face
“How about we infiltrate PonyVille stealthily, find out were Phantom is…While I fight Phantom you go and Save the ever pony”
“Alright that outta do” says Applejack
We walk slowly and quietly ducking behind every cover opportunity while we look high and low for Phantom
“Found him yet” whispers Dash
“Nope…Haven’t seen any pony yet” I whisper back while peeking above a bit of rubble
“Well let’s keep searching” adds Applejack
We continue are search around the outskirts of PonyVille and we still haven’t found him or any Pony yet
“Hey Shadow I think we need to look around the center of PonyVille…it seems to be where most of the smoke is coming from” whispers Dash
“Yeah I thought we would have to” I sigh, “alright Applejack, me and you will take the streets and rooftops…and Dash you take to the skies to see if you can find anyone”
“Why do I have to take to the skies” whines Dash
“Cause you’re the fastest Pony in PonyVille even Equestria and you know more evasion maneuvers than I do”
“Yeah I am the fastest Pony in PonyVille” say Dash getting psyched up
“Okay if anyone sees him do this signal” I say doing a couple hoof signals
“Alright got cha” says Dash zooming of into the sky
“Alright lets go” I say taping Applejack on the shoulder
We begin weaving through the empty streets we had previously looked through, taking five to ten seconds in cover to see if anyone is in any houses or buildings. Dash was still sweeping the area for any signs of Phantom or the Ponies of PonyVille
“Anything there Applejack” I say noticing she has been behind cover for too long
“There are noises coming from that house over there” says Applejack pointing at a brown house
“Okay cover me while I search the house” I say rushing over to the front door
I look around the house to see if there were any windows I could look through to see what was inside waiting for us in the house
‘Hmm… No windows…Guess I’ll have to be careful’ I think while signaling Applejack to come over
“Alright Applejack on the count of three we’ll open the door” I whisper to Applejack
“Ready” I say
Applejack gives a nod and I begin counting down from three using my fingers for signals, I reach three and we fling the door open and rush into the house like we were a team of Celestia’s Royal Guards. Within the house were three tied up ponies.
“Applejack help me with this” I say untying the ponies three
“Sure”
I look up at two of the ponies that have their back to me and notice that it was Al from the restaurant and his wife and daughter Sparkle.
“Shadow?” says Al staying up while rubbing his hooves, “What are you doing here”
“Im here to save PonyVille” I smile untying his wife which wouldn’t stop squirming, “have you seen Rarity around?”
“Hmmm…ah yes I saw her within all the chaos she was terrified to the bone” says Al, trying placing a hoof on his wife to calm her down, “I saw her get captured by that brute of a Pony, that attacked before he caught us”
“Did you see which way he took her” I say eagerly knowing she was still alive
“Yeah she was taken to the town square”
“Applejack are you alright to take Al and his family back to your farm…It should be safe there”
“Sure…are you going to be alright” says Applejack with a concerned look on her face
“I’ll be fine…just make sure Al and his Family get to safety” I say walking over to the door, “Make sure you leave her after I have left so you have a better chance to get to safety
“Okay”
I leave out the front door and signal down Rainbow Dash
“What is it Shadow?”
“I found where Phantom is”

“Where is he?” says Dash getting pumped for a fight as if she was facing discord again
“He’s in Town square” I whisper
“Well lets go” says Dash about to rush off
“No Dash…You’re not going to fight him…Your going to help Applejack get people out of PonyVille and take them to her farm”
“But Shadow…you can’t take him on by yourself” says Dash trying to join the fight
“I’ll be fine Dash, just make sure that you get the other to safety” I say looking around the corner to see if any pony was coming
“But you could die, Shadow” says Dash tears welling up in her eyes
“Yeah, I know and if I do make sure you look after Rarity and the baby for me okay” tears beginning to develop in my eyes
“But Shadow” cries Dash as she gives me a hug
“Ommfff” I moan at the impact of Dash’s hug, “Don’t worry Dash…I’ll be fine”
I lean forward and kiss Dash’s forehead
“Now help Applejack escort these people out of PonyVille and any pony else you find”
“Okay Shadow” cries Dash
I trot off running directly for Town square
‘I’m Coming Rarity, Just Hold on’ I yell inside my head
