Snowdrifter

An earth pony with a special talent for Winter Wrap-Up!

E
Source

After Tirek's defeat, magic was restored to everypony who it had been taken from - except Trixie. Now, injured and facing months of reduced magic, Trixie has to hang up the hat and cape, or risk destroying her healing horn forever. Hilarity Ensues.

This will be an episodic comedy, wherein Trixie has to basically retrain herself to use magic. Will the unstable surges continue? Or will Trixie lose the one thing she believes she's good at? Why can't the clinic in Canterlot read anyone's mana levels when Trixie is near the manameter?

Did you know that a manometer is a real thing? It reads absolute pressure changes against a fixed reference (thank you, Emperor), and could easily describe mana 'flow' and determine safe 'pressures' for magic to operate at.

On Hiatus until after May 1, 2016.

I hope you don't abuse Trixie TOO bad. Having to use foal-level magic for a unicorn that relies on it to survive is a very dramatic event.:fluttershysad: I will keep track of this for now.

Huh. Well, this has the potential for hilarity.

Don't really have much to say otherwise, although the doctor's comment about reliable ways to make unicorns explode got a chuckle out of me.

I'll fully admit that I'm not the greatest judge of natural sounding dialogue for Trixie, but it just sounded slightly off to me. Then again, maybe I'm at fault here and just expecting far too much third person here. Regardless, I'd watch out for that, but otherwise this is a nice start.

Looking forward to more.

6775870 I went through and corrected Trixie's unique dialogue, and caught some formatting and spelling errors in the process.

Two words: Proofreading! :facehoof:

Thanks, I hope to make this a good one!

Glad to see an update. I hope Trixie is able to handle these two months. I also hope Twilight gets to Trixie soon. Finally, I hope somepony figures out that Trixie was the cause of that machine and why.

Whelp she just cant cant a break can she...

You know those scenarios you see on TV where someone has to constantly wear a ridiculous amount of weight for awhile. but when the weight comes off they are much more stronger? That's what this reminds me of right now. Though I thought Trixie's magic was stronger than level 2. The way she showed up Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Rarity in Boast Buster looked higher than a level two.

6791524 I think Trixie is giving us old data, probably been awhile since she was tested. So, she's not a reliable source...:trollestia:

Not the most comedy filled chapter, but that's okay. It doesn't have to be non-stop jokes and hilarity.

HiddenMaster out.

I think Trixie's gone super sayian... :trixieshiftright: :twilightoops:

Poor Trixie. Going from what she says, I guess Equestria doesn't have that big of a social net for unicorns who overchannel, or she's just too prideful to accept the help. Given that this resulted from Tirek though, I would expect the crown to have a one-time exemption at a minimum regardless. If nothing else, Twilight will harass her until Trixie gives in and accepts aid from somepony :twilightblush:

A.K. Yearling, not J.K. Yearling. J.K. is the one who wrote Harry Potter!

It looks like Twilight will soon be stalking our favorite blue unicorn soon :twilightoops:

I wonder if Trixie's that naturally powerful, or if her power levels got a serious hike from the backlash from Tirek returning magic to everypony.

Don't get too power-mad, Trixie.

While it might be incredibly cathartic to do so, I'm sure the Ursa Majors would be upset if you started juggling them to show how powerful you were :pinkiecrazy:

By the way, a manometer doesn't read pressure 'changes'. It reads absolute pressures period, with one side set to a known pressure, sometimes constant, sometimes atmospheric, and the other to the side being tested.
