There actually was going to be an entire side story about them and the rest of the squad from earth, but i decided to scrap the idea after getting in deep with side stories. I was going to create another story for them to show what happened to the squad after Johnson's disappearance, but that wouldn't have anything brony/pony in it so that got ditched.

granted this is an M16A2, which solved alot of the jams from the M16 and the M16A1, but it still has a smaller ejection port when compared to the A3 and A4 models. Doesn't suck, just a problem with dirt and rapid firing.
And its not the military structure, but the military college rank structure.

2970716 You do realize regular ponies would probably hurl at the thought of crushing a creatures brain to mush right? We can think of that stuff because we have been desensitized. We see stuff like that in scary movies, the internet and all that, could you imagine a pony thinking of that and not hurl in a bucket afterwards? A lot of us think they'll simply get sick from seeing someone just eating meat!
Besides a regular man can't kill without a good reason to do so otherwise guilt will override the brain, and I doubt its any different for the peaceful equine species.
As for the forcefield I think thats a skill not every unicorn is capable Of learning, shining and twilight could learn it because they're powerful in their own right EG The element of magic and the captain of the royal guard.
I can picture a few guards being able to pull off a smaller version, but thats about it smaller and much weaker, to ask an average unicorn to do a force field I would think to be akin to asking an average joe to do a marines daily workout maybe even a SEALs but maybe thats pushing it, in between maybe? :P
And levitation is the only common spell all unicorns know, telekinesis probably might be outside of many unicorns range of workability not to mention magic can't be worked through solid objects, take for instance you're outside and you focus on the cup of tea thats sitting on the table inside the house you know exactly where the tea is, what it looks like, and all that jazz however nothing happens. I think for you to use magic on an object you must for 1 focus and see the object you're handling (if a unicorn was blind thats be extremely difficult) and 2 there mustn't be a solid object obstructing your path and I count the skull as an obstructive object from the goal IE brain.
However that wouldn't stop the magical hold on the skull itself but it takes quite a bit of PSI before the skull collapses in on itself. Can you crush a Mellon with your bare hands?
so no I don't think unicorns other then quite a few of the royal guard can pull any of that off and being that equestria has been in peace for over 1000 years I wouldn't imagine more then 500-1000 soldiers at the ready an only half are probably capable of doing those fatal magic.
hmm, I got to thinking just now, magic isn't telepathy or anything to do with "brain power" Like Xavior from Xmen he could do telepathy and can easily make you go brain dead. However he can't turn an apple into an orange. Like twilight can or tried
I think magic is a force that resides within the body unicorns can channel it through there horn pegasi with wings and earth ponies passively throughout there body.
Magic can't be used as a mental ability like telepathy or telekineses or pyrokinesis.
you either have mental abilities or you don't have them simple as that.
And to think if they could use magic to amplify there mental abilities I easily can imagine adverse if not fatal drawbacks to messing with your own brain. Not even a brain surgeon who knows EVERY detail of his brain wouldn't want to mess with it.
So its plausible to say they can't even "make your brain moosh" as it t'wer

1047327 Honored Service gets stabbed with a big jagged horn, in his stomach and lives?! I'm of the opinion that having him be dead would be more realistic to the wound he received, than his living through such a wound. Do some research about the injury and survivability of said injuries. I rant because I like the story, and having him "come back from the dead" as it were, just feels like it cheapens the finality of death, and the effects it has on the loved ones who have to deal with the aftermath and realization of that individual's death. Don't be afraid to kill off your character, as some really excellent stories have such scenarios in them.
