I don't belong here. These aren't the people I grew up with. My hopes and dreams, my culture, my very identity, could not be further from theirs. The only thing we have in common is body type, and even that is only superficial.

I was never even supposed to be here. I had never meant to take this shape, and certainly not so easily. I didn't plan on staying so long, on getting so lost in this world, in this universe. Seriously, how far off the beaten track do you have to get before you're in a completely different universe? I'll tell you how far; far enough that you'd never make it back if you didn't turn around the split second you showed up.

But I didn't know that, did I?

I don't owe these people anything. Their planet is only a speck of dust in a raging cyclone. I don't have a single molecule in common with this entire frelling universe. I've never owed them a damned thing.

So why am I about to give them everything?

Wow.:rainbowderp: I felt that, right here::heart:

In character, captivating, dives into his personality.

Have a favorite.:moustache:

Now I don't normally write comments because I don't really have a way with word, but that doesn't seem to be a problem for you. I found this story so interesting and like any good story it got me both thinking and wanting more.

Quite a story, but there's one thing that stops me from, scrap that I'll give you that thumb up, but please! hear my BUT('s)!

Doctor's clearly OOC in some part in your story. It's, of course, logical explanation as to why we seen him at that train, but Doctor, The Doctor would never rise hoof to strike anypony! He couldn't harm killer of his very own daughter. He's not the kind of guy to fight, not in usual way anyway. He would try to resolve the conflict by peaceful means, or if he would be unable to do that - he would try and remove Sombra from his seat of power.

That's the only complain on my part, aside from your story being too short. Keep it up!

6698695

Yes, yes! I know that past regenerations were much less pacifist. After all he once knew Martian martial arts. Or I mixed something up this time? Whatever.
But! I'm talking about Doctor after time war (it's a bit long, but shorter version was deleted by YT) It's my favourite kind of doctor, loud but merciful.

6698773 I think you misunderstood the meaning of the word pacifist. I just showed you a montage of the Doctor killing people, and you respond by saying his previous generations were more inclined to find peaceful solutions.

6698799

Yep, I wanted to write it other way around, but I mixed things up. Well, damn.

Anyway! I said what I wanted to say, and I think that despite my confusing wording choice, you got what I wanted to relay.

Followed you just in time to get a story! Anyway; this feels just like the Doctor if he came across no other option but to fight. Nice work friend. :yay: Take my like!

i thought it was going to be a convo between the doctor and celestia.

6699354 Mind if I ask what gave that impression, when only Doc is tagged and her name doesn't appear until at least the halfway point of the prose?

some authors don't use the tags as an element of surprise.

"So why am I about to give them everything?"

I always thought that knowledge was his greatest asset. who best to give it to, as the "in universe" twilight is missing in each iteration.

6699395 Fair point, fair point, and a good assumption. Still, there isn't much sense in getting on a train to the front lines if your only goal is to talk to Celestia. I mean, he's got a TARDIS.

Very cool.

(Also, I can definitely see the Doctor choosing to take that course of action.)

This... This is amazing.

Doctor Who and one of the alternate MLP timelines..., this is just awesome.

I'm not the best with words, but...

I loved the story. It's nice to see a story centred around a background pony like this, and I feel you have captured the personality of Dr. Whooves well. While Dr. Whooves might no resort to conflict, it seems you have based it of of the real doctor (only using violence as a last resort) and that is what makes this soo good. If you write more then please do so.

6699759 bbbbbbrrrrrrriiiiiiillllliiiiiiaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnttttttttttt yes im english plus this story is awsome

Wondering when someone would write this. Good story.

this entire frelling universe

After this line I thought I'd been reading the description as the wrong character. I tried to go back and read it in the voice of John Crichton, which didn't work either. You know that by standard translation convention (Tardis-assisted or otherwise) the Doctor uses normal (pre-watershed) human profanities, right?

Sombra has met his end, for the coming storm comes for him.
I liked it. That's what I'm trying to say.

6720161 I think the fact that your comment doesn't contain negatives communicates how much you liked it.

Ri2

Oh, Doc…

What did he hate so much about the primary timeline, though?

6753253 You'd probably resent Equestria a little bit too, if you ended up there by accident, had no prior knowledge of its existence, and then found you couldn't escape no matter what you did.

Ri2

6753333 Oh, like how he resented being stuck on Earth in his Third incarnation?

I hear you don't care about button presses. So, have some button presses. :trollestia:

6759069 Ooh, you definitely trolled me there. Much trolling has been done by the one that is you.

But srsly, any thoughts on the story?

6759075
Yes. Tirek with the power of the TARDIS is a lot scarier than Celestia, or the Doctor. He can just go back in time an infinite number of times until he gets it right. Of course, this is assuming that when he sucked out the Doctor's talent for time, he also found the TARDIS. Bonus. Why wouldn't the Doctor just stay in the Tardis until that situation was over? Bonus to the Bonus. If the Doctor's, 'talent for time', as you put it, was sucked out of him, wouldn't his years catch up to him? Bonus to the Bonus to the Bonus. Wouldn't the sucking out of the talent for time cost the Doctor a regeneration? And I'm done for now, good night.

6759135 Removal of Doc's cutie mark, at least in my interpretation, makes the TARDIS controls non-responsive to him.

And assuming you're referring to the Crystal War, at least half of this story's word count talks about why he isn't going to hide in the TARDIS. As for literally any other situation, can you honestly tell me a time when the Doctor willingly decided that, instead of doing anything about a situation or trying to help people, he hid in his box instead?

Even when it was the only logical choice, the Doctor doesn't hide in his box. It's true in the show, it's true in fanfiction.

6759192
I wasn't talking about the crystal war, I was talking about Tirek when I said that. As for the 'literally' any other situation clause of that reply, does the phrase 'one-word test' ring a bell? Clara Oswin Oswald? The only person to get that test right?

6759464 First off, don't you dare imply that Clara is important.

Second, there is a difference between grieving and avoiding saving the world. The moment an actual crisis presented itself, that man was on point. He was sitting around in his TARDIS because he had lost Amy and Rory, not because he only cared about self-preservation and would willingly watch London be swallowed up by carnivorous snow.

6760178
Heh. So...just to make sure that we're on the same page...
Clara, is unimportant. Right? That alone makes my argument invalid, and you my favorite author. If I was interpreting what you were saying correctly.
Second...

Thoughts on that clip?

6760207 Clip first: F:flutterrage:CK THOSE SHADES!

Second: For the sake of clarity and to prevent any confusion, these are my thoughts on Clara Oswald. She was never important. She was interesting, back when she kept popping up without explanation, but they waited until they had created the most boring version possible before she started travelling with him. She was tolerable, but after Trenzalore retconned her into being the most important person in the Doctor's life, she became insufferable.

She thinks she's smart. She thinks she's the Doctor's equal. She thinks she is the equal of a thousand-year-old alien who has seen all of time and space, and instead of using that hubris to become a tragic villain, she ponces around, getting herself into really contrived stupid situations because she thinks she knows what she's doing. She dies because she thinks she's just as clever as the Doctor.

And that's to say nothing of how the universe treats her. The world acts as though Clara is the most important person ever. Doc spends so much time bellyaching over how great Clara is that it makes Rose Tyler look like a one-night stand. The things he does in Clara's name made me convinced that Capaldi's version of the Doctor is insane, and far more childish than those damn eyebrows would make you believe.

She did not deserve a dignified death. She did not deserve to cheat death, and steal the coolest character of this new series in the process. She does not deserve a retro TARDIS.

Clara is a pointless, worthless grain of sand, on a beach where there is no sand, only very tiny diamonds. She's a granule of silicon dioxide in an ocean of diamond. She doesn't matter. She never mattered. I am glad she is gone, and I will spit on her contract.

Should have gone with the Dalek.

6760345
First: Indeed, friend. The shades are a definite sign that The Doctor has lived too long, and his mind is starting to go.
Second: Oh boy. That was cathartic. :rainbowlaugh:

6760380 The new screwdriver, though, that actually looks cool.

6760581
New screwdriver? Um...I'm lost. The last I saw, he didn't have a new screwdriver...unless they brought the screwdriver back in the Christmas Episode, which I haven't seen yet. Did they...on second thought, don't answer that question. I wanna be surprised! :pinkiehappy:

6760609 So, I assume you aren't 100% up to date.

6760634
99.9%, with the aforementioned episode being the .1%, though.

6760648 The Christmas episode isn't out yet.

6760654
than what are you talking about, new screwdriver? I've seen season 9. It's sunglasses and nothing but! :rainbowhuh:

6760665 After Clara and Lady Me go off in the diner and the Doctor gets back to his TARDIS, he gets a new screwdriver.

6760670
So, the very ending of the newest episode? Because my recording of that episode ended early...it's extremely annoying...

6760689 Oh man, that's a real bummer.

6760702
Yes. Yes it was. At least i have it set to record again though...

6760702
The Doctor hid in "Human Nature" when he hid from the Family of Blood. People died because of that decision. Not in the TARDIS, mind you, but hide he did.

This is a brilliant piece. I tremble at the thought of what power could be in the devices he holds - Not only is he a Time Lord, of the same race of the creators of the most powerful weapons of the universe, but he's also in Equestria, a land of magic. Science and magic joining forces.... the possibilities of destructive power are nearly limitless..

Demons run when a good man goes to war.

6971521 I won't nail down any particular things he has in that bag, but I'll say this:

The future he's trying to postpone is one where Celestia crashes the sun into Equestria. Think of literally anything he might have sitting around in the TARDIS that could be weaponized. If it would cause less damage than solar collision, it's in that bag.

ALL of it. Time Lord technology, after all. Hell, he could be carrying a platoon of reprogrammed Daleks in that bag.

It's been a rather long time since I've immersed myself into the world of Doctor Who, but I feel that only heightened my enjoyment of this story. With every reference, I found myself going, "Oh, yeah, that!" It was a real walk down memory lane and I liked it a lot. Also, I really appreciate your talent to do world-building in one paragraph.

(lol, I just imagined Sombra and the Doctor meeting and having this conversation:

As for the changelings, I hear Blueblood was the groom. They starved before they could finish the rehearsal.
