What can a simple mage do?

“Dear me, what do we have here? Two little ponies who think they can defeat me? Discord, the god of chaos? Why I don’t think so, and to be honest I am tired of this world. It’s just no fun anymore. I mean when that one thing came along it was fun for a time, but then he had to go and run off didn’t he? What was his name... oh yes I believe he goes by Black Waltz Three. Such a delightful character, but that was then and this is now and it’s time for this world to go bye bye.” Discord said looking down on the two alicorn sister, as he began to gather the very life force of the planet in an effort to destroy it.

“Quickly sister we must use the Elements before he can complete the spell.” Celestia called out to her sister Luna as they activated the Elements of Harmony and watched as Discord was turned to stone. But after a couple of moments they noticed that the spell had been completed and they noticed that a ball of magic had appeared and was slowly expanding beginning to consume all life in the surrounding area.

“Sister we must stop this, if we don’t the whole world will be destroyed.” Luna said looking towards her sister with a very worried look.

“I have an idea but you will not like it.” Celestia said looking away from her sister. “ I will give up my body and in doing so transfer my harmonious magic which will hopefully counter and neutralize the black magic at work here.” She said beginning to walk towards the sphere of magic but was suddenly stopped by a rather rough voice and a familiar tall creature landing in front of the sphere with its arms out to its sides in the sign of wait.

“Waltz get out of the way. We must stop this magic from destroying the world!” Celestia shouted.

“You are correct, this magic must be stopped but not by you. The world still has need of you, both of you. But there is one thing that the world doesn’t need. Can you guess what that thing is?” Waltz asked.

“It doesn’t matter I must stop this magic. It is the only way, my friend. Now please move aside so that it can be stopped.”

“I’m sorry but like I said you are needed but I am not. And I make the perfect conductor for this magic to be destroyed in. Now back up and let me work.”

“Sister as much as it pains me to say it, he is right. The world still needs us and his body does make a great conductor. We need to let him do what needs to be done. Please, let him.” Luna begged her sister with tears in her eyes.

“Fine Luna, *sigh* go ahead Waltz.”

“Don’t worry about me you hear. In the end it will all work out I’m sure of it.” Vivi said with a large smile and a voice full of false positivity. Because he knew that he had lied and wouldn’t be surviving this. That he was in the last moments of his life. And even while he knew this and his body slowly began turning to sand, he still had a smile on his face till the very end. As his body was about to finally crumble, he turned his head so that the sisters were the last things he saw and he said five words that broke their hearts and reduced them to tears as they could do nothing to stop the death of one of their closest friends. Those words were.

“I’ll miss you my friends.” And then like that, he was gone and all that remained aside from a pile of sand was his staff, robes,, hat, and a bunch of fried, blackened feathers.

The way Discord was talking it looked like it was only him and the two sisters there.
