Chapter 3: Exploring the RUINS part 1

As Celestia was waiting at the end of the hallway, she thought to herself. 'Should I call her my mom? I mean, she has called me 'my child' a lot. But that's just an expression, right?' The filly groaned and lied down, thinking about her situation, then she remembered, she had a phone to call Toriel. 'I'll just call her and ask about it, yeah, shouldn't be that hard.' Celestia looked at her phone, 'how does this work again? Oh, right, call button. The pony pushed the button and waited.

"Hello, this is Toriel." A familiar voice said on the other side of the call.

"Hi Toriel, I- uh, just wanted to say hello! Heh heh." Celestia said, avoiding her actual question.

"You only wanted to say hello...? Well then, 'hello!' I hope that suffices. Hee hee.

Celestia then smiled to herself, put down the phone, walked up to the pilar, and banged her head several time. "Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid-" she could have swore she heard someone laughing at the other side of the room, but she was to enraged at herself to notice whom. "What was that!? 'Oh, just wanted to say hi!' Stupid!" The filly groaned at her own 'stupidity' and took a deep breath. "*sigh* Try again, I'll just, try again." After she took in more deep breaths to fully calm herself down. Celestia called up the monster again.

"Hello, this is Toriel."

"Hello mom, I had a quest-" The filly froze, realising what she just said, 'That's was not what I wanted to say, damnit!

"Huh? Did you just call me... 'mom'? Toriel asked.

"Well uh, y-yes, yes I did." The alicorn whimpered, she was extremely embarrassed.

"Well... I suppose... Would that make you happy? To call me 'mother'?" Toriel asked.

"Yes, yes it would." Celestia regained some hope.

"Well then, call me whatever you like!"

The pony stayed silent for a second, then started jumping up and down and squeed. " She said yes! She said yes! Well not specifically yes but still, she sorta said it's okay! Whoo-hoo!" Celestia was smiling happily in the long hallway, all alone, by herself, in the rain. 'So, what now.' She thought to herself. She looked at the entrance to the next room, she tried to take a step forward, but she thought about what her mom said. 'Tori- mom, said that it's dangerous to go without her.' She took a step back. 'But I can take care of myself. She took two steps forward. 'But I would be disobeying her.' She stepped back again. 'I could show her that I'm good at puzzles if there's more out there.' She took three steps forward. 'But I could disappoint her by not following her rules.' (You see where this is going). Celestia stepped forward again, 'I can show her that I'm good at doing puzzles and stuff. It's a risk I'm willing to take.' She walked to the next room. Filled with something, she could not describe.

The pony looked around at her new surroundings. There were the usual purple bricks, some more rose bushes, and what appealed to her most, a froggit standing near the entrance.

'Hmm? Mom's calling' She answered the phone.

"Hello, this is Toriel, you have not left the room, have you?" Celestia froze.

"N-no" The pony stumbled, you know like a liar.

"There are a few puzzles I have yet to explain." Toriel explained. "It would be dangerous to try to solve them yourself. Be good, alright?" She asked.

Celestia took a deep breath "alright"

The filly thought hard. 'I should listen to her, why am I not listening to her?' Celestia sighed. She continued on her journey.

The filly walked up to the frog monster, wondering what it was doing the whole time she was on the phone, "Ribit, ribit. (Excuse me pony.)"

Celestia blinked. 'Did...did the frog just talk?' "Huh?"

The froggit continued, ("I have some advice to for you about battling monsters.")

"O-kay." The pony couldn't believe she was getting advice, battling advice from a frog, a freaking frog.

"(If you act a certain way, or fight until you almost defeat them... They may not want to battle you anymore. If a monster does not want to fight you, please... use some mercy, pony.) Ribit."

"I will, thank you Mr frog" The pony went on her way.

As Celestia walked down the room, her heart jumped out of her chest, surprising her. A whimsun approached meekly. It looked sad.
Celestia tried to console the little bug monster but halfway through her first word, the whimsun burst into tears and ran away. "Waaaaaaahhhhhh!"

The pony won, she felt terrible.

"Poor guy, or girl" The filly didn't know how to tell the difference between male and female monsters that would fight her. Nonetheless, she made her way to another room.

Celestia knew this room had a puzzle, there we're cracks on the floor, in the middle of the room. She was certain that would they break if she stepped on them. "Hmm" The pony also noticed some strange 'doors' from either side of the cracked floor. She put two and two together and knew what she had to do, even though she didn't like it. "Here goes nothing". When she stepped on the cracked floor it broke. As she began to fall she remember she had wings. 'Wings, don't fail me now!' She pulled them open and slowed down drastically, she glided down to the room below, while facehoofing at her stupidity of not using her wings to glide in the first place. She landed on a patch of roses and, as she expected, there were two doors either side of her. The filly went to the right door and made it up the room above. "And mom said they were hard." Celestia giggled.

The very second she went the the next room.

The pony picked up.

"Hello? This is Toriel." Said monster's voice spoke up.

"Hey mom." Celestia replied.

"For no reason in perticular, which do you prefer? Cinnamon or Butterscotch?" Toriel asked.

"Hmm... I like cinnamon." The alicorn answered.

"Ohh, I see, Thank you very much Celestia."

As Celestia looks around the room she notices-

'Again?' The pony thought, annoyed as she picks up the call.

"Hello? This is Toriel."

"Is something up mom?" Celestial asked.

"You do not dislike butterscotch, do you, I know what your preference is, but... Would you turn up your muzzle if you found it on your plate?"

"No, I like butterscotch." The filly replied.

"Right, right, I understand. Thank you for your patience, by the way."

'Wonder what that was all about?' Celestia silently thought.
