Well done on the suspense at the end there. Had me like "Oh shit oh shit!" You want to say don't do it but when you really put yourself into the story, that option may be better than what seems like the inevitable alternative. Reading on.

This gun isn't going to last too long in the hands of an owner who's never owned a gun before.
(That's why they give you owners manuals with them. Just like a car, you have to know how to maintain it in order to get the thing to last more than a few years.)
In his hands, even if he gets an infinite supply of ammo, he's gonna demolish that thing within a decade.
Granted, that's plenty of time for the immediate premise of the story, I'm just saying, it won't last him a life time in Equestria (and I doubt the ponies know enough about the finer workings of a firearm and what they need in terms of proper oils for lubrication, proper cleaning methods, etc.).
As well, if he's never even fired one, he's got NO ingrained safety habits.
Life and limb saving things like trigger discipline, knowing not to get your fingers too close to the cylinder gap of a revolver unless you don't care about explosive amputation of your digits, and knowing NEVER to empty a misfired round into ones hand (my uncle had to have his index finger surgically re-attached after this EXACT incident occurred while unloading a misfired .22 LR from a revolver. And that's just what a dinky little .22 round will do!)
There are MANY more things to learn with firearms, and each kind of weapon requires ~virtually~ an entire new set of know-how.
Revolvers cannot be silenced.
That's absolute, pure hollywood BS.
Now, you CAN put a silencer on a revolver (though it has to be a custom revolver, as they don't thread revolver barrels normally specifically because it's pointless), but the silencer won't suppress the sound effectively.
Rather than a good +95% sound suppression like most suppressed weapons, revolvers allow gas to escape from the cylinder that holds the round being fired.
Because that gas escapes (thus making noise), only a tiny portion of the sound generated from gas escaping the barrel through a suppressor would actually be muffled.
Thus, a silencer on a revolver would cut down the sound it would make MAYBE 15-20%.
But revolvers are exceptionally noisy, so even a low caliber will still sound like a cannon.
(I've owned two revolvers to date. I know from first hand experience that even a little .22 revolver -my first pistol- would make more noise than my old S&W .40 cal semi-auto pistol that I sold some years back.)
There's no point to putting a suppressor on a revolver.
Well, there is actually ONE specialty revolver in the world on which a silencer will actually work, as ~I believe~ it was specifically designed for this purpose.
That said: The character in the story might not know that. (He'll figure it out if he ever goes to do the bottle-packed-with-steel-wool silencing trick though, but that's even more advanced gun knowledge than "revolvers can't be silenced", so he'd have to hear about that ghetto silencing method from someone else.)
The proper term for the ammo containing section of a revolver is "cylinder".

(I do feel that this chapter was REALLY rushed. But I can understand wanting to get past this part of the story, it can only play out one way, regardless of how detailed you write it.)

In some ciders you absolutely cannot taste the alcohol whatsoever.
It's not actually dangerous unless you drink like +10 of the things, but you'll have a hangover if you down more than 3 without pacing yourself after the first 2).
All you taste is a super sweet (but not overpowering) apple juice flavor.
Same with a properly made Long Island Ice Tea (and it's generally 20-25% depending on how much vodka and rum(s) you throw in there, so those are FAR more "dangerous".
(Long Island Ice Tea will make you feel no different than drinking regular sweet tea if you drink one and start in on another within ~30 minutes, but by the time you even start to feel the effects, you've already drank enough that you'll be staggering and slurring your words even if you stop immediately.)

As a gun enthusiast, I'm always disappointed when I see misinformation like Carl walking around with Rick's revolver using a jury-rigged maglite silencer on a massive .357 revolver (A 6" barrel Colt Python, which is often called "the Rolex of revolvers" by many revolver fans).
Spreading false information about guns is dangerous. It's not the gun that's dangerous, it's the person using it. More specifically, the person using it is generally only a danger to someone they don't want to hurt when they know too little. But what's even more dangerous than lack of knowledge is thinking you know something, and that turns out to be false information. THAT is the most dangerous thing that can happen in any situation involving a firearm.
