Gamera was saving the Earth yet again from the same alien species that tried to mind control him years ago. As Gamera charged right at them, a mysterious black hole appears out of nowhere and sucks in both Gamera and the alien spaceships in and sends them into a world that was very new to both Gamera and the aliens.

If you go by showa era (1960-1980) Gamera he get his energy from eating Fire from Anywhere including volcanoes, If you go by Heisei era (1984-1990's) He absorb Mana which is Spiritual Authority energy from the Earth.
