Anything can be awesome when it's made of Lego.

E

(Takes place between LEGO Equestria Girls 2 and LEGO Equestria Girls 3.)

After the defeat of the Dazzlings and the redemption of Sunset Shimmer, peace has once again returned to the Lego World. But as a few typical days show, it's often a good idea to be prepared for any future trouble, even if there are a few bumps along the way.

Summaries of each short story:
Leadership Expectations: With Celestia Playwell leaving on a series of business trips, her sister Luna has agreed to temporarily take her place as leader of Canterlot City's branch of the LEGO Team. Luna has high hopes that a little change of location will make things more interesting and exciting for her, but quickly discovers that's not necessarily the case.
Parkour Pie: Rainbow Dash's training session is interrupted when Pinkie Pie asks to join in. Rainbow agrees, but quickly starts to loose her cool as Pinkie manages to outdo her in practically everything.
Build-Off!: Best friends Lyra and Bon Bon are offered the opportunity to join the LEGO Team, and to prove they both have what it takes to become Master Builders, they decide to challenge each other to a Build-Off.
Creative Differences: Three reserve members of the LEGO Team — Sandalwood, Micro Chips, and Flash Sentry — are asked by Luna to prove their capability of working together as a team with a simple free-building exercise, but their vastly differing creative styles could make this very difficult.
The Science of Creative Magic: Sunset Shimmer gathers her friends together and hopes that by observing them as they get creative, she will be able to understand how Equestrian magic works in the Lego World, but this proves to be far more challenging than she had expected.

Well, this is going to be interesting.

And poor Luna...

I look forward to seeing more from this.

6594694 Agreed. It sure does get lonely at the top. But as the old saying goes "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it." :trixieshiftleft:

6595066 Hope you step on a LEGO brick, because that's what you deserve.

For those of you who may have noticed that this story has a "human" tag while none of the others don't, that means nothing at all. The only reason it's there is because the submission of this story was not approved until after I was told to add it. Kinda strange that it didn't happen the four previous times, and since I'd rather not take any chances, I'll also have to add it to the upcoming sequel, even though there will still technically not be any humans in this series.

6594694 Previously, Luna has had very few appearances in my series of stories, so I decided to give her a bit more recognition, with this particular short story setting a good stage to do so. To avoid spoilers, all I can say for now is that you can expect to see her in the upcoming sequel for more than just one chapter.

6595700 That'll be just a background event that'll be mentioned occasionally throughout the upcoming sequel. The main cast won't be going there, but it will be mentioned every now and then. If you can't wait to find out what it is, I'll give you a hint: What is the new major Lego theme that's coming out next year, with expectations of becoming the "next Ninjago" in terms of popularity?

You should be asking if Pinkie Pie has done these technqiues before, Rainbow Dash.

That was funny.

:applejackunsure: I wonder why this story (or rather, this group of short stories) has gotten so many dislikes. If there's anything I should improve on, then please let me know so I can fix it. Downvotes alone won't make me a better writer.

6617528 It's Pinkie Pie. What more reason do you need than that? :pinkiehappy:
(Though I should mention that she did hint at the key to SNOT walking. Think of it like this: Place a Lego minifigure on a plate with studs, then turn the plate upside down. The minifigure should still be sticking to the plate because its feet are attached to the studs on that plate. In this Lego World, one needs to make sure that each and every footstep sticks to a stud to successfully achieve SNOT walking at any angle or direction. Rainbow Dash ran too quickly and didn't pay attention to where she was stepping, so that's why she fell off. Although you may recall that Sunset Shimmer was able to run up a wall without any trouble, that's mostly because she's already had years of practice and knows very well what her limits are.)

Hey, I think you did a great job with Lyra and Bon Bon in this short.

This was quite enjoyable...if a bit confusing for someone who hasn't played with Legos for years or seen any Lego movie ever.

Ri2

And then they…wait, can Legos kiss? Or have sex? How's that work? Where do baby Legos come from?

6639474 I believe the first short stories collection for this fic universe explained that baby Legos have to be created.

Yours is much better than the EQ short. Monster truck>stupid hideous outfit and screaming to the skies

6639402 Thanks. When I wrote this short, I had a hard time coming up with dialogue for them before the Build-Off. And even more unfortunate, I had planned weeks earlier what kinds of crazy things they would build, but by the time I got around to actually writing, I had completely forgotten all the details, so I had to come up with some entirely new ideas on the spot. I'm just glad that my best attempt here was still pretty good.

6639441 Sorry if I'm being too blunt, but you don't know what you're missing out on. The Lego Movie is definitely worth watching (even though I should point out that the Lego World of my fanfiction series is originally inspired by the Adventures of Clutch Powers movie that came out a few years earlier, so it has much more in common with that movie than the Lego Movie).

6639474 To put it simply, romantic love does exist in the Lego World, but anything worthy of a mature rating (like sex) does not exist at all, so children are actually built, not born. The reason for this is because, let's face it, Lego is a children's toy, and I wanted this world to reflect the kinds of concepts that the actual LEGO Company would permit in their sets. When I started writing this series, I had imagined it would become popular enough that other people would write their own fanfictions of this Lego World. But if that ended up being the case, I wanted to avoid any potential for any mature stories at all costs, so I simply removed the concept that would've made that possible. I'm not saying they can't love (among the main characters in the Clutch Powers movie, Bernie had a very obvious crush on Peg, so standard romance is still there like we're used to), I just don't want to see this universe I've created to be tainted by any mature content.

6639672 Glad to hear that. This actually reminds me of one of the earliest comments I received to my first LEGO Equestria Girls story, where someone basically said that my take was much better than the actual Equestria Girls movie. It's nice to see that even after all this time, there are still people out there who think so highly of this concept of mine.

So...Lego people can fall in love, but there's no such thing as sex?

6639672 Hey, I liked that. A little weirdness is acceptable every now and then.

Just one short left to go. I'm curious how you'll handle it in the Lego World.

Okay, that was fun.

6662046 Based on the character tags I used here, I'm sure you've already figured out which of the official shorts that my last short story will be inspired by. (Of course, this also means that I will not be writing a short story featuring Photo Finish. I did consider an idea where she (obnoxiously) takes detailed pictures of various custom creations throughout the city so that instruction books could be made of these models, but I ultimately decided that it was just too difficult for me to write. The one that featured Lyra and Bon Bon was challenging enough.)

Well, at least you tried, Sunset Shimmer.

Magic A is Magic A.... Not a very detailed answer of how it works.

Don't worry Sunset, we're not really given an explanation of how Equestrian magic work in Equestria, so we feel your pain.

For those of you who may have noticed that I've made this comment a day later than I typically have in the previous weeks, it's because I simply forgot to do so yesterday. :facehoof: Hopefully I can avoid letting that happen again (something as simple as leaving a sticky note on the front of my desk is usually enough of a reminder for me).

6684089 6684108 Yeah, just like in the short that this story is based on. Of course, considering the fact that some parts of the Lego World already have their own form of magic (such as in certain areas of the Castle Region), I had to make sure Sunset specified that she was trying to study Equestrian magic, to avoid any confusion.

I can totally picture these obstacles on American Ninja Warrior. :rainbowdetermined2:

You know, I kinda like how you had Sunset and Micro Chips interacting for a bit in the beginning. I'd love to see the other reserve people interacting with the main characters.

Oh man. I loved this clip from the actual movie. And you just added some extra laughs to it. Thanks. *Snickers* Poor Sunset. :rainbowlaugh:
