Hmm interesting. Might I ask what this setting is about? I noticed this story is part of a much larger set of stories, and I'm a bit curious as to what the synopsis of this series is.

6592773 Basically, the Trixieverse is an AU in which every single pony has a fetish of some type. They also have access to little devices called bits that, when clenched in your teeth, will invert your naughty bits. Have a nice roomy vagina? You will grow a monster cock.

Also, some fetishes are more severe than others. Rarity's, for instance, can be actively dangerous to her.

6592773 What Steel said. Also, the story will (most likely) make no sense whatsoever if you haven't read the previous ones. There has been a lot of character development.

6592831
Ah so when they use these bits they're able to play out their fetish whatever it maybe.

6592773 I feel a good synopsis is "ponies fight through to their happy ending, which is sometimes very difficult to spot in advance". Who knew Rarity would end up with Derpy, abandoning her history as a kinky dominatrix and expert submissive to learn the ways of affection? Who would guess that Scootaloo would turn out transgender? Okay, everybody. But who'd have thought Apple Bloom would end up with Diamond Tiara as a mate and business partner, and running Sweet Apple Acres?

6592831 I think that's not how you spell 'Trixie' :raritywink: Rarity has always been more under control even at her worst. It's Trixie who's sometimes dangerous to herself as in 'Too Near The Sun'. Also, what you call fetishes can be temporary, as with Applejack in 'Derpy Desires' getting self-destructive with Gilda when her family turns negative on her.

At the moment, the up-downthumb ratio of this story is EXACTLY one to one, and I've no special reason to expect it to change even if this is legitimately the best follow-up to 'Adorable Monsters' it could be (which is of course my goal). The only advice I can really give is, read earlier Trixieverse books to see if you like the series. If you've read the previous seven books, the dynamics of it all will make better sense. Without that, not much I can say will help.

I said 700 followers would never happen, because the exact same thing happened with Too Near The Sun and Adorable Monsters: therefore I'll say now, once this book is finished, THIS one will wrap everything up with yet another valid place to finish (just as DF, TNTS and AM did), and this time, the only promise I'll make is that I'll keep it going (a book 9 after this one) should I reach 2000 followers.

And as I said: this is for those 706 or so people who read all the way through the million word saga and all the incalculable permutations of emotion, perversion and mystery, and came out the end still wanting more of the story. It's not for the 22,000 who glanced at a chapter or two and didn't get into it. If that means the true 'thumb ratio' of this entire book (which'll take months of my rather declining, old-horse life) is really one upthumb to thirty-one downthumb, so be it. At no point have I said you can't express your opinion even if it's not meant for you.

I'm going to keep faith with that one in thirty, that's all. :ajbemused: That's my privilege to do, and I get to choose. And those people don't have to 'discover' it anywhere. They're already here, on Mondays, and sometimes even comment though they've said it all so many times before. They don't have to keep me going, but they're the reason this book exists and is underway.

6593131 Hmm I must admit I'm a bit intrigued so I'll add the original to my read later section. Not sure when I'll get to it though.

yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!!!!!

6593418 Ah, one of the 706 :rainbowkiss:

Thank you! It's nice to see some of you checking in. I'm going to give my darling readers a ride they'll never forget. And, in the next chapter… Marble Pie shows up. :raritywink:

so the setting here is a racist self centered kirin comes to town and everybody needs to bend over backwards to accommodate her.

6593426 checking in? Ive been waiting for this sice i finished your last book

6593435 Everybody changes in a Trixieverse book. What you're seeing is the way the pool-balls are set up before the first shot of the game, and that's very clear: whether Vinyl Scratch likes it or not, Hina is a racist self centered Kirin who's sort of an 'indigo child' and has led a sheltered existence. She thinks she can do anything, and some of the ponies like Vinyl think everybody needs to bend over backwards to accomodate her.

The key point here is whether the BOOK also thinks Hina is a total mary sue who should get everything she wants (or, I suppose, an anti-Sue only there to get punished and humiliated). I assure you, the book does not think either of those things :duck: it is only depicting the starting condition in unmistakable terms, and we're already presenting Hina with challenges she's got to deal with.

Since I know this might be a leetle bit controversial bringing a tumblrina Kirin absolutely convinced of her own righteousness into Ponyville, I'll just say outright that Hina is neither as great as she thinks, nor a punching bag to make societal points. You'll know her not by her assumptions on entering the story, but by how she handles things when it goes wrong for her. I'm confident some people will never like her, but I can see the whole story outline, and I like her and what she brings to the story. She's neither the Big Bad villain, nor the big hero. She's got lessons to learn, and she's got some earth pony stallions to play with, and that ought to be fun :raritywink:

I downloaded and read the htmls for all of them

(I wait until these books are marked complete before reading, but I have to say, I'm invested in the bizarro world version of Equestria and the characters you have made.)

Whew, looks like I have catching up to do. I think I must have missed a book somewhere...

Tracking and waiting for it to be complete for me to read in one day XD

I must be one of the 706+ then - I keep my gold stars and my clopfics in separate lists. But make no mistake, I follow Trixieverse with zeal and a glimmer in my eye. Looking forward to the chapters to come.

Commence read.

Once more in the breach.

Twilight seemed pretty content with knowing the power rankings.

Again? Ok, just one more!

“Uh-huh. What the fuck are you?” :rainbowlaugh:

"Feh! She acts like she’s the special agent of Princess Celestia herself!" Great cover, Super Sekrit Agent.

...and Marble Pie doesn't even acknowledge the Fourth Wall as a concept.

Right. Pinkie is still in "nobody loves me smash the Equestrian Patriarchy fuck all y'all" raging bitch mode.

Aww, poor changeling.

Commence read.

Good ol' Spy being Spy.

Now to see how things collapse.

Numeric Essence seemed like she was going to be an important character, but she never really did anything and then disappeared from the series. It seems odd.

Why didn't Bon Bon like the bit? And why did she stop liking Lyra, again? And why is Bon Bon hiding the depth of her love from Mayor Mare? Would loving one pony really clash with her secret identity that much? Can't she be mean to everyone else and be madly in love with Mayor Mare?

Why does Pinkie hate Marble Pie so much? Her hatred seems very unlike her.

6636710 Lyra turned out to be an immature, somewhat racist unicorn who took Bon Bon for granted. She's better, but mostly because Princess Luna insisted she grow up and learn better. And Bon Bon IS affectionate with Mayor Mare, they're just both keeping up something of a public facade but trust me, Bon Bon is very sweet with Mayor Mare in private. Mayor Mare did run to hide under HER bed, after all!

Pinkie's been having a rough time, and this is partly her story. "Fun didn't used to be so hard". But the reason she's super touchy around Marble is, Marble DOES have far stronger Sense than Pinkie. To Marble, it isn't even Pinkie Sense, it's inferior Marble Sense, and Pinkie did manage to get away from that by moving to Ponyville where she could be herself. Now, here comes Marble again, already claiming Pinkie's not gifted enough to know what's really going on. Expect Pinkie to kick it up a notch, like "I'll show YOU!" :pinkiecrazy:

6637114 But why does Bon Bon seem to hate the bits. When she was with Lyra she seemed to prefer a strap-on to one, and I can't fathom why someone would ever go with that over the real thing.

And I still have to wonder what the point of introducing Numeric Essence was.

6637142 Lyra was shown as continually demanding that Bon Bon, a lesbian with a great delight and pride in her cunnilingus, use the magic bit for its magicness (as if she didn't count as a person, only a magic wielder). Bon Bon had once tried to expand their repertoire by use of a strap-on, and that was when Lyra called it a 'shitty crude physical earth pony thing', so it wasn't that Bon Bon was THAT into strap-ons: it was that her first attempt got cruelly rejected, and then the magic one got treated as more important than SHE was, and none of it had much to do with Bon Bon as a person.

They were bound to fail, and Lyra had a rough time before she ended up with Luna, and even now she's still not all that mature or well adjusted. She made a big breakthrough when she realized she'd put forth heroic effort to rescue Applejack even though Applejack was just an earth pony, and she made another step when Luna foaled with her and it meant that one of her foals was also an earth pony and Luna liked it that way.

Bon Bon doesn't hate the bits, and doesn't hate Lyra too much, but would never allow Lyra to come back, regardless of what sex toys she had.

Numeric Essence is capable of thinking through things other ponies don't understand. She figured out Twilight was Self-Will before anypony did, and she was right about alicorns forming poles that combine to give extra power. She can solve problems and do the right thing, which sometimes doesn't mean embracing alicornhood and immortality. Essence sees a different purpose for her life, and is pursuing it.

6637574 I'm impressed with how well thought out that is.

“I’m a Kirin, little mare. I can dance on a rainbow.”
Technically unicorn, slightly fluffy, insufficiently pink. 2/10, would not watch.

*finishes reading* Ahhh. Here we go. :pinkiecrazy:

Commence read.

Zecora finally get it.

Kirin shenanigans.

Forgotten incidents.

Pinkie...well...:pinkiecrazy:

I know that almost every time I comment, it's a criticism or a question about something I didn't understand, but I actually really like this series. I know I don't say this enough, but they're all great stories, and it's one of my favorite series of FiM fanfics. You're a very skilled writer, and I can't help but wonder if you think I'm a jerk because a lot of the time I comment, it's a criticism and never a compliment.

6643178 I have a number of very strange friends, some of which are even more socially odd than me. I've often wondered if I could count you as one of them, even though it's seemed adversarial or even trollish at times :duck:

I don't think you've EVER said anything like that, so I've always assumed that you were either just giving me a hard time for sport, or you'd become fascinated with the stories because there was so much there TO criticise: a fertile field for continuity checking, in a way that more amateurish stories couldn't ever be!

And I've loved you anyway, even if you were a troll, because you're so quick-witted and have such a quirky sense of humor :rainbowkiss:

And now I know the truth

I'll be doing my level best to keep chapters coming each Monday (though the one after Thanksgiving week is going to be very tough: we might run a little shorter for the next two chapters), and I'm putting a lot of effort into the outlining and character arcs this time around. Nearly everybody's in flux, and things will get darker than ever because we've got a greater evil than ever before. I promise I won't kill any Mane 6 :pinkiecrazy:

6643307 Well, don't say that! Now I know that if they're in a perilous situation, they're gonna be fine! That completely ruins the suspense!

6643361 You know I've always said that everypony would be okay in the end of the book, that there are no real villains and no lasting hurts.

Not this time. :ajbemused: the evil is real. I think it's OK to exempt the Mane 6 from death, as that would be too big a departure from Trixieverse. For anypony else, whether it's victory or destruction or both, they'll have to earn it.

6643401 Yeah, but don't tell me that (and I don't remember you ever saying that before). Let me believe. When you're watching TV, yeah, you know the good guys are gonna live because they're the good guys, but that would be like if one of the writers actually came out and publicly said that none of the good guys were ever gonna die. Yeah, deep down, I know that, but don't actually say that. Let me get immersed and suspend my disbelief and wonder if they're actually gonna make it out okay. Like when Gilda accidentally cut open Applejack. It was suspenseful because I didn't actually know what was going to happen next, but if someone told me she'd be okay, it would've removed all effectiveness. You don't outright spoil your story.

Big Macintosh and Marble Pie are related!

6653661 Even more distantly than Big Macintosh and Braeburn, or Apple Bloom and Scootaloo.

Anyway she flees the story on Monday, in a very bizarre Marble-y way :raritywink:

6654530 Yeah, I know. I was just joking.

Well, that was a thing.
...
Dammit, Bloom! You left Essy a loophole!

intention to kill ponies and devour either their flesh, or perhaps some other aspect of their living ponyness

Like blood? That's a damned Everfree monster, cannibal and/or vampony detector, not a murderer detector! Bites == vampirism == death, remember? :facehoof:

Also, the Ponyville changeling has an official name now:
derpicdn.net/img/view/2015/11/12/1021751.png
M. A. Larson picked it out, and they ran with it. It's more official than Derpy.

Commence read.

Breaking the walls Marble, Pinkie doesn't even know.

Numeric with the logic. Sorta forgot her. A shame on my part.

Couple questions:

1. If Big Macintosh had the same kind of sex with Braeburn that he had with Rarity, then why does he still dislike Rarity? He seems fine with it now and over all that self-hatred and shame, and that was the whole reason he was mad at her in the first place.

2. Is Big Macintosh not in love with Braeburn? I thought he was, but then he was in love with Marble Pie who said that he would find love, which makes it sound like he isn't in love now. Or is he able to fall in love with more than one pony at the same time? Polyamorous?

3. How come Marble Pie couldn't stay? The most I could get out of it was that she had to leave because the story said she had to leave, but she's in control of her own actions, so why does she actually have to adhere to it? Is it that her staying would really screw things up and she knows that?

4. Why would the adults of the Apple family allow Apple Bloom and Diamond Tiara to drink alcohol?

6662783
Off the top of my head:

1) Because surprise buttsex kinda kills the mood to begin with, and given the context, it was more a case of anal date-rape. That doesn't do much for a relationship.

2) Trixieverse Ponyville basically runs on pansexual polyamory. The strictly straight/gay and monogamous ponies are considered to be a bit odd. Essy, being asexual, confuses the hell out of everypony.

3) Marble can see the future. For that to mean anything at all, she has to believe in some form of predestination, otherwise she'd just be seeing possibilities, which could be slight possibilities and therefore just be so much nonsense. Marble Sense says she goes home, and Marble Sense is never wrong, so she goes home. Yeah, self-consistent precognition is a real downer, because it means that you can't change anything you see.

4) Bloom is Boss Mare. She's head of the family. She makes the rules, and she'll beat the stuffing out of anyone who seriously challenges her on it.

6662917
1. He wasn't mad because he was date raped; he was mad because he liked it and thought it made him gay. In fact, right before it happened, he was incredulous about it feeling good and thought it was ridiculous and that they'd get back to having regular sex right afterwards.

2. It's just that her saying that he'll find love makes it sound like he hasn't already.

3. But that doesn't make any sense. She says she's supposed to go home, but she could just stay. The only reason I could think of for her to have to go would be if she saw that her staying would be disastrous.

4. I know Apple Bloom's in charge of the farm, and I can see them obeying her whereas the farm's concerned, but I cannot see Applejack just letting her drink.

6662969
3) OK, everything she "sees" is true, right? If it's true, it has to happen. If she, or anypony else, could change it, it wouldn't be guaranteed to be true. If whatever she sees must happen, and that includes things about herself, she can't not do them. If she could avoid doing them, she wouldn't have seen them in the first place.

TL;DR: accurate precognition and metaphysical free will are fundamentally incompatible. Since Marble has accurate precognition, ponies are predestined to do whatever she sees them do. That includes Marble herself.

6662969 Marble does say she's fleeing because she has to be in the same chapter as the evil, TWICE. She chooses to go home. Some of the stuff she says implies that she's got clear visions of future and past but doesn't understand them until she's right on top of them experiencing them. She's a weird mare, very shy, but I wouldn't say she feels completely out of control.

6663210 Since she values having this better-than-Pinkie precognition, I suspect she intentionally goes along with it the better to make herself special. Never take ponies' worldviews totally at face value, but always look for the worldview.

I'm going to visit family, be kind to each other while I'm gone :duck:

Destiny and free will are not incompatible. Let's say you look into the future and see yourself getting a pizza. Now that you know about it, you could just not get the pizza. Destiny exists in the sense that when all is said and done, certain events will have unfolded; it's not an unstoppable force. But if you could somehow know about it ahead of time, you could just do something else. If someone was going to kill you, but you saw it in the future, you could stop it, but if you didn't see the future, then it would be your destiny because did nothing to change it because you didn't know about it. Everything that happened just happened to happen that way, and that's all time is: a series of events building off of all past events. Marble Pie could even see alternate timelines which would mean that there were different paths she could take, and she chose the one she did.

6664233 Congrats on the cameo in the new 'Ass Brutalewd' cartoon! That was kinda what I was going to do for an avatar, but Brutalewd is way better at that stuff :duck:
And yes, that's more or less how it works. Marble's in sort of past-present-future-world and sees it all as one thing. To her it makes about as much sense to decide and therefore come from a certain past, as it does to decide and then go to a certain future. Or, as Marble would say, "m!" which is a graphical representation of timelines as three paths connected, where you can go down any of the roads in any direction.
I've started Chapter 5, which should be less confusing and have more shrieking flower ponies.

6687320 Thanks! It is literally my favorite thing from this fandom ever. And it must be a small world, because lots of people I know who are all in different circles have seen it. What did you think of it?

6687818 It was funny! Gloriousness ensued :rainbowlaugh:

Commence read.

Hina gazed on Lily in something like awe.

Would "upon" be better there? Not sure.

Interesting turn of events.

Those flower ponies just falling over multiple times. Which may have been foretold, or more to it?

The general evil sensing.

6713608 It would be fine, but sort of highfalutin'. I'm pretty sure I went with 'on' because it's weird to be like 'and lo, I gazed upon the flower pone, and it fell over' :rainbowlaugh:

I intend for the flower pone to get happy endings and more of an apparent future, but it won't be Hina bringing it to them. If they were enthusiastic about being magicked, I bet she'd be right in there with thamaturgical Valium, but Roseluck can't abide any magic and the other two are simply less panicky about it: none of them really want to be hexed, so Hina will honor that. Since she's all about the super-magic, she considers her hooves tied and has peacefully given up on 'em, wishing them well.
