Maybe I'll upload something here. Maybe I won't. I haven't written fanfiction in a loooooong time.

Gummy is an alligator with more of a brain than his skull can fill. In a sudden switch of mood he decides to sneak out of his home and find solace in the Ponyville Park. He finds a single bench there, and sits on it to contemplate about himself and his life.

Oh, this goan be good. let me read.

Cute ending ^_^

I approve of this story. Well done.

I almost don't want to read chapter two, because I have inclinations towards Gumnona, and this could qualify if I don't taint perceptiosn. I will go on but I wanted to say it is cute. :raritystarry:

*sits and waits for this to appear on EQD*

Excellent! A piece penned in the manner of Tank! I am so tracking!

In the first sentences, Gummy noted, "... passing by a fellow man..." - man? Is that proper petspeak perspective?

Always fun, Ginger.

:pinkiehappy:

I will read this later! Got work today :unsuresweetie:
Oh, check blog, funny thing about today XD

Haha. I love it.

Description seems intense, I'll check it out

I do so love Slice of Life stories and this one definitely sits well with me. Everything seems in order here, from the grammar and spelling to the essence of the story itself. I envy you your ability to create this swiftly more short stories. Well done.

No, penicillin, you don't understand, I really don't want to know about your magical properties. I need to read this, stop bothering me.
I will get around to this in the next hour, as soon as I "know the story of penicillin backwards". Oh, and thanks for the comment on Discordian Episodes! I'm trying to avoid my own comment spam, but that'll probably fail soon enough. I'll be back... I spy a Gummy.

Thanks for the kind comments, everypony! :yay:

I didn't even know that Gummona was a thing! Actually, I was originally going to have a slight romance between Gummy and Opal, but scrapped it for a straight-cut slice of life. These stories seems to demand total innocence.

748401
You wanted a Gummy-centric thing, and that's just what I gave. And I like your comment spam. It makes me feel loved... but do try not to over-exert yourself! :pinkiesad2: That would be most unfortunate.

There could have been GummyxOpal?! :fluttercry:
Minus that lost opportunity, this was yet another awesome story. :rainbowkiss: I loved the daunting challenge of the stairs, and Winona's frantic personality especially. An independent Opal just makes me like her more, nothing will stop her from being best pet. And I can't get enough of this world you've created for the pets, terminology and whatnot, it's canon now and nothing can persuade me otherwise. I'm not quite sure if the appropriate word is a 'culture' for the pets, or a society, or something. *Looks over notes* Oh! And the ending!

That concludes this segment of why you are amazing at everything you do and why everyone should love you. Tune in to your next story to find another! Although the pets don't get many fics for them, I'm glad we've got such a brilliant author amending that. I don't think I can profess my love for you any further, so I guess that's a wrap.

Boy, I sure can ramble. :trollestia:

Great story all and all. The thing that gets me - “Are you going back to your stone?” - They live in stones? :derpytongue2:
lol, I know what you mean :twilightsheepish: (think of it as a Twilight giggle, not sheepish)

I agree with Celestia'sScribe, GummyxOpal would've been an interesting thing to see.

Still, it was a great story. :yay:

Excellent story good sir, you may have a thumb, a favorite, and a moustache:moustache:

But common compliments aside, you do really good work. I really like the world, and I especially love the personalities you give the animals. And Gummy being a connoisseur of taste. . . has he ever tasted Opal, I wonder?

Here kitty kitty:rainbowwild:

Equestria Daily worthy! Good job! :pinkiehappy:

You people are all wonderful and I love you dearly :heart::heart:

I dunno, the romance aspect with the different species and whatnot kinda made me feel weird. :pinkiecrazy: Either way though, I'll be doing one more pet fic by request, and hopefully that'll be the most epic yet with the return of Tank and the introduction of a certain white rabbit. Yay for hype!

She tastes like mashed potatoes, I'd wager.

Expectations: a Forest-Gumpesque scene where Gummy talks to someone and proves his smarter than the average pony.:moustache:

What I’ve got? A well done, but sadly short insight into the live of a few of the pets of the mane six.:rainbowlaugh: The usage of words like “hollow rock” for a house or “master” and “mistress” in reference to ponies combined with the otherwise eloquently speech pattern of Gummy strongly reminded me of one of my favorite cartoons “Felidae” – the cats also called other members of their kind “brother” and “sister” and humans were simply “can openers”

Thanks for the fun reading it! :pinkiehappy:
Alamut /)

"The harsh buzzing of cicadas drones on and on as I sit"

Cicadas are diurnal. I know, because we get them every summer where I live, and they always stop their racket when the sun sets.

Really? I had no idea... I'll go and change the description. Thanks for letting me know.

The names they have for their owners are funny.

762816
Understandable, I just think it would be interesting to see. Either just minor flirty dialogue or something just so I can laugh at Gummy's reactions. :twilightsheepish:
Huzzah! I love this series and, while Angel isn't my favourite, I can't wait to see what his personality is like aside from the jerk everyone usually sees around Fluttershy. :fluttershysad: Congrats on EqD as well! It was only a matter of time.

One thing that bugs me slightly.
It feels off to imagine a cat acknowledging someone as their "mistress".

Other than that minor thing it was a wonderful story - mad probs to you.

How so? I can imagine that these MLP pets differ from our own in that they have their own specific rules and laws. They don't have the proper word for what a Master is. The ponies certainly aren't brothers or sisters in servitude, so a different name needs to be applied to them. Opal is already breaching a fairly large unspoken rule in that she's expressing distaste for her Mistress. She can't call her by any other name simply because she doesn't have one at her disposal to use.
...Wow, I rambled. Sorry about that. :fluttercry:

This....is something :rainbowderp:

I love this series and their unique perspectives.
Here's hoping for more!

A stereotypical dog says "You love me, you feed me, you pet me, you take care of me; I think you are god."
A stereotypical cat says "You love me, you feed me, you pet me, you take care of me; you think I am god."

When I think of Gummy I always suspect him to feel rather lonely, being the only alligator for miles. On the other hand, he gets to be with Pinkie Pie and is (understandably) embarrassed about his missing teeth, so maybe it's ok for him. :unsuresweetie:
I'm excited about your take on Angel too, especially with my headcanon on him being the leader of a ruthless rabbit mafia that holds Ponyville in its iron, yet furry paw. :fluttershbad:

763299
Perhaps "bug" was a bit to strong a word.
I understand that the pets "society" is unlike anything animals have in the real world and I must admit that I don't really have a better word for opal to use:twilightblush:
But still, the idea that a cat would see itself as subservient to anything really feels profoundly unlike a cat to me, in the same way, but to an even greater degree as if we had been told that Opals favorite past-time was swimming in the local lake, kind of like the antithesis of essential catness.

But really it is one line out of more than 5000 words, and it isn't that important, no need to take it too seriously.

I like the bit of... xenofiction in the way the Siblings speak to each other. They have a relationship with their Masters and Mistresses that doesn't truly represent any human one - not their slaves, their employees, their subjects or their worshippers, but something in between all that and their children. You give them a way of talking that both expresses that and similar aliennesses, yet you can identify with them and their feelings.:pinkiesad2: I also love how they speak in a precise, clipped and formal way, yet still think like children and don't understand fundamental things like what a house is.

Hmmm, something tells me that the writer is used to sight hounds or lap dogs rather than herding dogs.

775501
Can't debate that. I have three little bichon frises.

...Yeah. So my experience with dogs is pretty lousy. :twilightblush:

if pinkie was crying and sad, why wasn't her mane flat?

Great cute little story. Always nice to read neat stories like this. Green thumbed.

I have to admit, I've not seen anything quite like that. That was brilliant; an ingenious insight to the thought process of the pets of Ponyville. Also, I believe that David Attenborough would be the perfect narrator for Gummy's thoughts. Bravo, Sir!

Awesome :moustache:

Oh, this was cute. This was very cute. :yay:

If you'll excuse me, now that I know that Gummona is actually a thing, from what I've gleaned from the comments, I think I'm gonna look for that. XD

I couldn't help but hear Hulk Hogan reading Winona's dialogue, which made for a weird combination.

That was oh-so very cute! Totally gave Gummy the Jack Harkness voice in my mind. A little sad that there's STILL no Angel...

I've read the others and I can't help but feel myself become more and more enchanted with each story I read.

Your Tales of Animalism series is great. Even though they still remind me of Freemasons because of the Masters, Mistresses, Brothers and Sisters. :rainbowlaugh:

Why am not following you yet? Ah well, that's easily remedied. :pinkiehappy:

1091649
I was going for more of a simplified "Animal Farm" meets "Watership Down" type of world. I hadn't even thought of the freemasons, but I can see the resemblance :rainbowlaugh:
Thank you kindly for the watch!

"The Grand Duchess of Blue "

"My heart sinks as I reach the most challenging of my obstacles to the outside world: The Jagged Cliffs. Every Sibling knows that The Jagged Cliffs are a phenomena not to be taken lightly. They're an unnatural breed of terrain that only the most hardened of souls can manage to master."

It's lines like these that make this series as incredibly charming as it is.

I think the characterization of the animals is pretty much perfect here, and the writing is wonderful. Very well done!

First story of yours I've read, and I've gotta say, I'm astonished. Very impressive attention to detail, I love it! :raritystarry:
