If the main OCs in this story were voiced, what would they sound like? How do I know this story won't die after only one chapter?

If you'd like to take a look at my other stories, you may find that 1) I tend to stick as close to natural show voicing of characters we know and make sure to give ones I create a discernable personality. This story is mainly focusing on the show characters listed with the addition of three others staying true to the mythological roots of the show 2) I don't leave stories unfinished - they may take a while to be completed, but I'll finish things once I start. I've got the entire story outlined and major events detailed. It's not an open-ended story or something where I intend to figure it out as I go.

So, I finished the story - updating every MWF until fully published.

I thought Mage Meadowbrook was a different pony than the Meadowbrook who was a Pillar.

There are a couple different takes on it. Generally, it hasn't been a great piece of continuity in the writing of the show with using a name that could be taken as a title or a family name instead of a specific pony.

Some have assumed that, due to Meadowbrook being better known as "the Mystical Mask", history accidentally acknowledged her as a different pony, or confused her with another mage.

Oh, so it's Shadow Play beat for beat, is it?

9394224
Could you elaborate? My story follows the S7 finale episodes, but it's not the same story.

9396212
I mean in terms of how Starswirl, Twilight, and Starlight are characterized and how their dynamic plays put, and in regard to the first two once again misunderstanding what a map mission is.

9396234
That's a fair observation to make. I do try and stay close to show characterization. Being as this story takes place right after Shadow Play, the continuation of those personality quirks shouldn't seem too out of place, I would hope.

9398234
The shame of it is, the show's characterization is off.

9398316
Not really. I have seen Them act like this plenty of times throughout the show.

Plus the show writers and creators know how characters are better then some random viewer.

9398761
Do they though? Without exception, they came on in Season Five or after. At best they know the characters they created, and even that's not a given. With the ones they inherited? No chance.

The point is taken, the beast is moulting, the fluff gets up your nose. The illusion is complete; it is reality, the reality is illusion and the ambiguity is the only truth. But is the truth, as Hitchcock observes, in the box? No there isn't room, the ambiguity has put on weight.

Great little adventure with some cool world-building.

So Starlight will be a princess/alicorn some day, when she thinks she's ready. That's nice to see.

It kind of goes without saying that Twilight got her wings without really seeking them. She didn't have it in mind that she wanted to be a princess when she set out to solve the magical mix up mess, but that's how things panned out.

I would also assume that there are plenty of ponies that would love the spotlight and bonus powers that come with the whole alicorn gig. What is often overlooked is that those same characters all too often don't understand what they are getting into and the power and responsibility would quickly become stressful and overwhelming.

The main point of my story is that we all have a choice. We can choose to exercise that choice, but we always have to live with the consequences regardless of how we chose. We don't have much control or choice when it comes to dealing with the consequences of our choices/non-choices. Act, or be acted upon - it's up to you.

In the story, Starlight finally came into her power when she started making her own choices rather than letting others decide the consequences for her through her inaction and lack of trust in herself. Also, she applied the trust she had in her friends to see her through situations where she recognized the lack of her own ability to overcome an obstacle. That too is a choice, and something that goes a long way in terms of friendship.

The rest of the characters and plot progression points serve to illustrate the point, I hope, in a way that adds to and complements the already abundant lore and environments of the MLP world. I hope that attentive readers caught the several allusions to adjacent properties and themes from outside the MLP world as well.

Most of all, thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed it.

I like this idea that Starlight has one thing going for her that Twilight didn't when she changed. Starlight has Twilight.

My thinking is that the historians got Mage Meadowbrook confused or conflated with Mistmane, either because of a lack of information or tribal bias of some sort. It's happened plenty of times in real life.

...why does this story bring to mind the Legend of Zelda franchise?

Not a bad story in the slightest. Well done.

This story is now among my recommended reads. Good work, author. Bravo.

Phenomenal work, lovely story from start to finish.
