Hello there, everypony! Thank you for stumbling upon my user page! (OC Name: Reverie)

E

Starlight was recently accepted to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. She looked forward to interesting classes and an overall exciting new life. She even made a great friend. She and her new friend become inseparable and seem like the perfect duo, but all foals experience different things from life that make or break them. When life seems to be bearing down on Starlight's friend, how will she confront the issue and will she be successful?

This story is a Starlight Glimmer headcanon, set before Sunset was banished, but not too long before. I would say Starlight is around 13 in human years.

The sad tag is very loosely used, but none of the tags really fit this story too well.

*Also, I would put in cover art, but I wanted to get this out before the season 5 finale airs and this headcanon is completely shattered. I will probably come back to set one later when I find a good pic.

Interesting, but the show already has an official backstory on Starlight Glimmer, and Sunset definitely wasn't involved. I kind of wish this was what actually happened though just because it ties everything together so well. Oh, well, at least my headcanon is safe (for now :fluttershyouch:).

6677356 Actually, I posted this before the episode aired because I knew it would get shattered. I would have posted it sooner before the finale, but I didn't realize the finale was so soon until my brother mentioned it the day before it aired.

Edit: I probably should add the AU tag though, now that you mention it.

Honestly, this is better than the backstory she got in the show... and given that the show was pretty vague about the backstory, there is nothing that says this couldn't have happened. I mean, the only thing we know about Starlight's past is the brief thing involving Sunburst, and even then, that being the catalyst for her isn't exactly hard to believe, leading to her studying cutie marks.

Of course, I realize that the primary reason that the backstory in canon isn't very good is because it was rushed, and it was handled by Haber, who is by far (as far as I'm concerned) the weakest writer of the more prominent writers. Or at the very least one of the weakest. Friendship Games still has something of a bad taste left in my mouth.

A+ though, you expanded the backstory to make it less... well, stupid.

Thank you, kind person. Comments like this make my day even though I do not have time to write a lot. I thought of this sometime in the middle of season 5 (i think), and just didn't get around to writing it until I realized "crap the end of the season is in less than a week and this headcanon is about to be shattered." I was going to make it more than a one shot, but like I said I had to rush it in before the episode. I might expand it one day.

This was a very nice, well-fit-together AU, and I'm glad I found it. There's quite a lot of exposition, but it makes it feel as if Starlight is recounting in in the present day, as opposed to simply being first-person and set in the past. Good job on this, and wherever you go from here- if anywhere- have fun.
