Even though that pirate is ambrassing a large force, I can't help but feel sorry for him because of wrath that Sombra would unleash.
They come, expecting to smash a little lizard, only to come face to face with bloody Godzilla.
I'm going to be disappointed if there's no griffon named Patrick aboard The Crusty Crab...
Damn, now that was something. Never thought the plot would thicken quite a bit in one small chapter, but it did. Nice job.
Well you know what they say, "Mess with the bull, you get the horns."
Sombra will face his toughest enemy yet. A frycook.

Inb4 there's a deck swabber named Spongebob.

I think this Patrick would be better as a giant starfish.
interesting was this planned out to cause this very situation either by Sombra or Shantae with his own agenda? it definitely be Sombra's style to lure in the pirates so he can crush them all at once maybe that why he put the bounty on Cassius in the first place
cant wait for starlight to find out the local gossip paints her as Sombra other mare
This poor, poor griffon welch. I do hope to see a rather angry Sombra taking on an ant in comparison. Who knows, maybe he'll kind and only provide death instead of suffering, but if she does get to Fluttershy... I'll bring the popcorn.
Oh, you silly pirate, Sombra isn't your average king.
Well the king gets a healthy serving of chicken sent to his doorstep. How neighborly
That is one batch of screwed pirates
Sombra nearly destroyed the Crystal Empire and these low level NPCs think they can take him on??
I hope they enjoy what their about to receive.
Things are going to get worse in a hurry. No way New Haven Escapes unscathed.
quick someone play a sabaton song

"There's so many ships coming... The Winter Mist, The Bleeding Kraken, The Blood Boiler, The Weeping Widow, and... is that The Crusty Crab?!"
A distant voice echoes in response,
"No. This is Patrick."
Now I want to see Sombra rescuing Starlight
Fluttershy is the only thing keeping Sombra from slipping back into his old ways.
A King of Mists and Shadows on one side, and a Pirate Queen with a chip on her shoulders, a cut-throat crew, and not much else going for her on the other; she touches one hair on her mane and not even Princess Celestia nor Princess Luna could save her from King Sombra's wrath. There will be no pit in Tartarus deep enough for the pirate b**ch to hide in to escape his vengeance is anything were to happen to his Queen and unborn offspring.
Poor Betha's about to go the way of Whitebeard...

9047919 I want the acting captain of the ship to be named Eugene. Then the reference will come full circle

As you wish

excellent choice
These pirates are pretty much dead meat now, harming even a hair on Fluttershy's head is pretty much a death sentence, including torture beforehand.
But I wonder what Starlight will do if these pirates show their worst. Until now she still acts morally higher and thinks that Sombra and Fluttershy are lying to her about all these "poor misjudged criminals" who served as an example.
Should Starlight now witness unfiltered cruelty and blood vengeance with her very own eyes and ears, maybe even be abdcuted as his "concubine" and tortured, or whatever else may happen, then I can totally imagine this so called war being the very eye opener for Starlight so that it will change her "Equestrian wordview" to suit more Sombra's standards than Twilight's.
A new Sith shall soon be born!
Well then, Starlight might just see for herself what exactly Sombra is fighting against in his territory, and why he shows so much cruelty and no mercy for those that disturb peace in his lands. Till now she only heard tales and only once saw the aftermath of the King's 'cleaning' the local brigands' stronghold. It's one thing seeing the result or listening to someone else's version of the events, and it's a completely another to actually witness the events with her own two eyes. Especially if the threat goes for her personally and one of her friends (despite their current relations being rocky a little).
Really can't wait for that wake-up call, and I can already predict that any griff that so much as closes to Fluttershy in a threatening manner can already change their name to "Mincemeat" because that's what will be left of them afterwards.
Sombra is no ordinary king, trying to kill him with bullets would be like trying to cut a god with a pocket knife.
They underestimate him and somehow I think he wouldn't want it any other way.

They seem to be operating under the same insane optimism that the bandits of Skyrim operate under.
“Hm, I just saw that guy kill a bunch of my friends, my leader, a few giants, and a dragon of myth....I can take him!”

You must not have seen a lot of those cheesy old cantonese action movies. The chef always turns out to be a kung fu bad ass in those flicks

Or, Rozo doesn’t get to the ship before the storm hits, he’s flying blind, lands on the deck and finds a deckhand trying to lash the sail to the mast.
“IS THIS THE CRUST CRAB?” Rozo yells over the roaring winds.
“No, this is Patrick.”

The dark side lied about the cookies, but the power is still pretty sweet.

Unscathed? Unlikely. Is triumphant? Absolutely. And not simply because of Sombra. The citizens of New Haven KNOW what these pirates do. They KNOW that if they fail to defend their home all that awaits them is being cooked and eaten. Possibly alive in either case. The pirates will fight for many reasons, but none of them will fight with the same desperate need of New Haven. Those who fight for greed or lust or fear of reprisal from superiors aren't going to be as vicious and driven as those fighting to save not just themselves, but friends and family from being EATEN.
Now add in Sombra. We've seen him survive wounds that SHOULD have killed him, like when his half brother shot him with a crossbow. Sombra literally willed his blood back into his own body and then went on to butcher his way through to get to both his father and the brat. All out of pure rage and hate. Imagine for even a moment the fury he will unleash if he finds out they're coming for not just Fluttershy, but their child as well? I dare say finding out about that would drive him into a frenzied rage that would make his takeover of the Crystal Empire look like a petty tantrum.
Oohhhh pissed off pirate bitch. I look forward to seeing where she goes. But I pity anyone who tries to hurt Fluttershy. Sombra wouldn’t make their death pleasant.

I have a feeling the upcoming 'battle' will be akin to this.
My eyes are ready.
I think a fitting punishment for her and the rest of those carnivorous griffon pirates is that whoever survives is forced to eat the corpses of their comrades. Basically pull a Scott Tenorman on them.
For Betha's sake, I hope Sombra is swift when he kills her and her crew/fleet.
Also...

They're part lion-they already do that.
#Isn'tnaturefascinating?
Suddenly, my SombraShy story turns into a pirate story. And it's freaking awesome. Keep it coming, Boomstick Mick!
Also, I wonder what the Crystal Ponies would think about Sombra's new governing style? It'd be kind of like finding out your abusive alcoholic dad adopted a child whom he dotes on and treats lovingly.

I don't know if your comment is relative to mine.
9064055
Replied to the wrong person, whoops.
I loved it! But why would she kill the element of kindness???? Such rudeness is just.......well..............RUDE! Also it's treason so she has that to deal with. Betha is in for a hell of a ride!
Took me a while, but I found the time to continue reading, and I must say you fail to disappoint with your fine works.
I enjoyed the court of last chapter in particular. A fair, but harsh king. As a king should be, I believe. When the rules are as simple as "Do not Steal, Lie, or Fight," the punishments should indeed be harsh for those foolish enough to break them, but they should also take into consideration reasoning as Sombra does.
As for this chapter, I enjoy your painting of the other side. Even heartless bandits and pirates have a soul behind the facade. Everyone has a weakness, even beneath the strongest of wills and steels. No villain is just a villain, and it takes skill and finesse to write a proper antagonist. Of course, I shouldn't be surprised. You have already more than proven your ability to make once evil characters likable and worthy of empathy. I look forward to how this story progresses.
9047864
Agreed
Considering everyone else's fate when they challenge Sombra, I can't say things are going to be looking good for these pirates.
They certainly won't be looking good after Sombra is done with them.
Almost happened six months ago, the best witches that could be gathered were all KO’d, one is conscious, the other four sleeping prisoners
War...is coming...
Honestly, if I were her, I would wait till the baby is born then use it to my advantage against Sombra
