Knowing his reason, I suspect his wife was fine with the visits- and participated- because I think he wouldn't be the one she loved if he wasn't the sort to put in this kind of effort for the Princess to ensure she had cause to be happy.
I wonder which one suggested bringing the baby.
I also like to imagine the kid wanting to come with, and getting to come on special occasions, like birthdays.
