I'm a fanfiction.net writer and contributor to the Infinite Loops (if not the Saph ones as far as I can tell), who may occasionally jot an idea for here.

E

This idea has been dabbling in my mind as of late: after reading the Great Alicorn Hunt, and reflecting on some tendencies in this fandom to treat Celestia the same way other fandoms treat characters like Dumbledore and the Sandiame/Third Hokage. My mind often thinks of ways to look at fandom cliches in new ways, and this is my take on the subject. Can't say if I would explore it further, but I am not against anyone else taking a dab at it.

Anyway, the idea here is that Celestia is musing in the aftermath of the Canterlot Royal Wedding, about how this may mean Shining Armor may now be doomed to die like a mortal, leaving a brokenhearted Cadence behind. Luna, who unlike Celestia has not had the years (about as long as Cadence has been a royal) to plan these things, is a bit more realistic, believing there is still plenty of time.

This also takes place before Season 3, where one could simply suggest this conversation leads to the plans to cause Twilicorn.

It also implies that Cadence and Shining Armor haven't come to realize the implications of Mayfly-December romance. As far as I know that pretty canon.

Hopefully this meets my goal: of trying to present a Celestia who could work as an antagonist, but one who isn't evil, diabolical, and could be an interesting take on the character for others to use.

OOoooo I love this idea! START READING ACTIVATE!

Interesting concept! Though I hope Celestia has considered too the implications of somepony pushed to act beyond their mortal limits... and failing. :twilightoops:

loved it ^^ *claps my hoofs*

Darwinist Celestia? Well, why not?

I see what you mean. Fan have put her on such a high pedistal while forgetting she has feeling too. I wrote a couple of stories trying to make Celestia face this. Give it a read sometime and I promise it is NOT a plot read. "The Tale of Princess Celestia and Jake".

This idea that Celestia is trying to "make" more Alicorns would explain how she treats Twilight, she knows Twilight is extraordinary and just needs the proper "push" to ascend. Notice once Twilight ascends she isn't Celestia's go to disaster solver anymore, like that part of her training is done. I also doubt Celestia isn't just waiting in the wings as a precaution, ready to swoop in and save her "chosen" if they get in real danger.

He's now on Archive Of Our Own:

In another time, another place, an alicorn Princess sent her faithful student a final test-- an unfinished spell by the greatest unicorn mage in Equestrian history. After a near-disastrous first effort, the student finally solved the riddle of the spell, completed it, and was transformed (as her mentor had planned) into an alicorn princess.

This is not that time and place.

Goodness gracious alive. I don't remember reading this, it says I didn't read it, and I don't have it saved to my library. Just, wat.

Hmm… I like this take. I desire more of this breed of potential antagonist Celestia.
