Never stop. I have eleven stories and counting. And almost all of them have dislikes. Remember this phrase my dad tells me all the time: Some of the people all the time, but never all the people all of the time.
What that means is that, just because someone hates it doesn't mean you give up because someone out there may have loved it. Just keep working and find your niche, you'll be successful for sure

Let me tell you this now, originality had been give for years, there's only original approaches to old ideas. Me, my most successful stories are my ships: Spike x Rarity, Twilight, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash. All have been done so much before, but people like them because of how I approached it (not going into detail here, you're going to have to read to find out).
Just don't give up, that's the worst thing to do.

To be honest I can relate to your situation, not in the story though, You see not too long ago I tried to make an EG fic about a new student at school who was your typical goth kid, I tried to approach this in the best way I could, but in the end only 1 person liked while 20 others disliked, Now eventually the story was a complete failure and I ended up deleting it, but the point I`m trying to make is that when you find your niche, you can achieve things you imagined, just aim high on what your trying to accomplish, add a few surprises and have fun doing so. Believe me when you read my story, 'A Second Chance' which I`m proud of but all in all, the important thing to remember is that not all stories will be a success, you`ll hit bumps and encounter some critics, but having fun writing them is the real adventure in this community and your reward will be filling your imagination with creative ideas.
