Domination of Equestria - T-61 days.
“Right, we’ll be off. You two take care.”
“You as well. Celestia be with you Spitfire. Soarin.”
“You think they’ll be alright?”
“Captain Spitfire? Yea, she’ll be gravy. We should worry about our own mission.”
“Good point. I see...two patrols. Two guards each.”
“Copy that. I see them. That’s the entrance to the main control room just there.”
“Yea, you think we should blow it?”
“No. There’s the keypad right there, let’s see if we can get in quietly first.”
“Good idea. That way we can save our explosives too.”
“Right. We can use them once we’re inside.”
“Ok, the patrols have crossed, we need to move...now.”
“Right behind you.”
“You ever think why he chose the Everfree?”
“Well, it’s right outside Ponyville, which is near the base of the Canter Mountain.”
“I know that. You got the print dusting kit?”
“Yea, I’ll sprinkle the powder.”
“Yea, I know that, but it’s such an unnatural place. How could anypony stand to be in here so long?”
“Well, you realise most of his army isn’t ponies right?”
“Good point. Ok, I’ve got an idea of the keys here. Four...six...nine...was it a four or five digit code?”
“Intelligence said four.”
“Cool. Four, six, nine, seven.”
“Wow you’re good at that.”
“Thanks. You wanna do the honours?”
“Nah, this one’s all you.”
“Err…”
“That’s the alarm! Did you do it wrong!?”
“No! It’s right, I’m sure of it!”
“Well Luna Buck it! Out the way, I’m blowing this door down right now!”
Overlord Rule No:66 My security keypad will actually be a fingerprint scanner. Anyone who watches someone press a sequence of buttons or dusts the pad for fingerprints then subsequently tries to enter by repeating that sequence will trigger the alarm system.
They've got fingers now?

Yeah this is getting confusing... ponies, humans, anthros? I had it in my head that they where all ponies.
Captain Spitfire? I thought she was captured and killed at T -61 days.
Is the chronology on this chapter correct?
6505239 She left on her mission and was captured/killed on the same day, hence T-61 days
Okay. Now it's corrected. Thanks.
6505215 the overlord is human. his underlings are imps or some other demonic humanoid as well as ponies. And (of course) the equestrians are ponies
whats with the dislikes?
6505591 But if you go back to rule number 3, it's all worded in a way that the overlord is a pony. Seeing how his younger brother is a businesspony. Also all his interactions with the other ponies makes it feel like he is a pony.
Also, he asked Rarity to make him some uniforms for his employees. Nothing was said about those employees being a different species.
Now here is an idea,
Why not both?
Use both a finger scanner and a keypad to be used in that order for extra security.
~Leonzilla
6505821 ....ponies don't have fingerprints, maybe?
Now that's a good rule.
Meh, dats weak. Try something really difficult, like:
You come to keypad and punch in your personal code, dependent on the current date.
From the other side, your 7x9cm photo drops for the guard to check.
Guard thoroughly compares you with photo for 1 minute at least. He isn't allowed to take less time by the rules.
Guard lets you pass, and you enter the small room with two doors which CANNOT be opened simultaneously by MECHANICAL DESIGN.
Room contains pressure pad sensor, which estimates your weight. There are also other sensors, metal detector and fingerprint scanner is among them.
The room is also an elevator: if something wrong with you, the elevator quickly goes down for you to meet containment team or worse.
Next you go through a room with seemingly randomly placed high cylinders. You must go between them in a special route.
There's strong microwave field between some of the cylinders, it gets reconfigured regularly.
Instantly cooked random bird corpses remind you what will happen if you stray from the route.
Scattered microwave radiation is also pretty strong to fry most electronics, which may be on you, and surely any bugs: any devices with antennas hardly can survive that....
Well, here it is. You think that's some paranoid evil overlord lair?
That would be pretty close, but... described above is NOT fiction
That's description of checkpoint pass system in Soviet Sukhumi facility for nuclear materials processing in 70-80s . And that's only the parts of the system I know of .
Evil Overlords seized our world long ago, they just didn't care to inform general populace about that .
What if a worker accidentally glances at his girlfriend/co-worker as she punches in the code?
Sorry, co-worker.

As long as he doesn't forget how the scanner works, he's fine. It only trips the alarm if you use it as a keypad and your prints don't match up.

this reminds me of a Diskworld novel, describing the security Vetinari put around the eccentric inventor "leonard of quirm", who routinely invents doomsday devices and doesn't take any precautions to prevent them from being used because he's certain no one would ever want to use them...
