So few people write in the style of children's literature that its a gem in its own right simply for that, before even considering that you do it well. I really don't understand why people dont read this stuff simply for that reason.

Low-level winter peril has always been a very cozy topic for me, and the childish nightmare seeming to blur with reality helped keep the stakes appropriate raised - while we all know Applebloom's not in danger, she doesn't, and for the narration to fit her perspective was wonderfully appropriate.
