Jay David

Just a guy from Britain who loves MLP.

This story is a sequel to Of Rainbooms and Dazzlings

With the Friendship Games having come to an end, a relative peace has emerged between the Wondercolts of Canterlot High and the Shadowbolts of Crystal Prep. These two long-time rival schools now find themselves spending far more time together than they ever would have thought of doing before.

And now, despite the issues of their shaky history with one another, friendships now start to form between them.

(Will contain spoilers for the film)

I know what they say about glass houses, but you're doing two of these at once?

Cool! :pinkiehappy:

We didn't get to see much out of the Shadowbolts and they seem like fun characters, Sugarcoat and Sour Sweet in particular, and all five (technically Twilight too, I guess?) could use a little more love from the spotlight. Plus, I smell a chance of crossover with oRaD. :trixieshiftright:

To be honest, I've never watched the movie yet, and I'm guessing I'm reading this as a spoiler :derpytongue2: But this is good! I really liked it! You earned a favorite, buddy!

So where are the dazzlings in all this?

This is the start of something good.

I was hoping that someone would write a story along these lines. The Shadowbolts and the whole Crystal Prep location, culture and history have too much potential to just have as a one-off.

Looks good so far. Can't wait to see another installment.

Dude I love your Rainbooms and Dazzlings stories as is and now this one with the Shadowbolts looks promising.

It's already started. The Friendship Games Fanfics. I will watch this intently.:coolphoto:

The fact that you manage to have such a high level of quality and quantity of writing is absolutely amazing. There is no doubt in my mind that this is going to be great. It will be interesting to see how you interpret the Crystal Prep girls.

6467696 Yup. So the fictions have begun. Get ready! :rainbowlaugh:

Consider me intrigued. I look forward to more from this fic in the near future.

"Believe me...I know that all too well. When you've spent a long time disliking a person...it takes a long time for that to give way to something better."

I don't get the point of this sentence in the conversation: while at a personal level Sunset and Twilight's experiences are similar, from a social point of view they are very different. Sure, both had been through a dark transformation and a good chance to destroy or conquer a world but for Sunset, apart from the she-demon incident at the Fall Formal in the first movie, she also had a story of being CHS' bully from some time before. Twilight, on the other hand, either doesn't have that history to cause animosity or will run on pony Twilight's reputation (maybe without even trying to do so) so she should be forgiven way more easily than Sunset.

Edit: I agree with the sentence by itself, Sunset knows that. But I don't get what's the point of bringing that at that momoent.

please tell me you are going to throw the Dazzlings into the mix

A promising beginning. :pinkiehappy:
I watched the new movie today. I really wasn't expecting to think much of it, but surprisingly, I really liked it. Good story, good music. And Midnight Sparkle was awesome.
Looking forward to seeing how you continue the story.

I like where this is going. I hope to see my two fav shadowcolts lemon zest and indigo zap

6466939 I agree about the crossover potential. That could be really cool.

It's nice that this time the antagonists (especially Twi, as strange as it feels to call her that:twilightoops:) won't have so much deep emotional baggage, but instead something a little... different. You can only empathize with so many characters at once.

Nice start, although I was expecting Sci Twi to talk about Principal Cinch acting like a bitch.

Didn't see Friendship Games because my TV dosen't get DiscoveryFamily, only read about it on the Wikia, this sucks :applecry:.

Here we go! :rainbowdetermined2:

But... dat coverart:

EDIT: Aha! Much better! :pinkiehappy:

Good lord; imagine what Pinkie, Lemon Zest, and Sonata could do if you got them all in the same room, :applejackconfused:

Realistically, Shadow Bolts would destroy the Womder Bolts.

I am Intrigued. Will cautiously follow, but if the plot goes down in flames like some other stories I'm out.

Realistically, the Rainbooms/Element Bearers would get destroyed in pretty much every major conflict were it not for a Deus Ex Machina or some kind of outside interference. Half the time, the bad guys just stand there and let them do whatever they're going to do, offering little or no attempt to prevent the apparently unstoppable rainbow lasers.

I more or less agree with your assessment, but the Wondercolts not being allowed to outright lose isn't exactly a deviation from formula. :applejackunsure:

Oh, good, I was hoping to see something expanding on the Shadowbolts' characters. Can't wait to see where this goes.

You know? You can combine Dialogue and Narration in one same paragraph, specially if two, back-to-back pieces of dialogue come from the same source.

"Ah. You mean the one you spoke of before? The...other Twilight? The one who came through the portal during our picnic?"

You see, it's fine if you want to incorporate the ending snippet into this, but . . . I can't really say it was a good addition. Now, the story nearly begs to have that backstory told. Why?

Because you don't just see your double from another universe and forget about it having happened, necessitating a recollection. There's no way that Princess Twilight Sparkle sees another her and just decides to head back through the mirror without questioning things. Those two had to have interacted; you can't get past it. And since this story is about pairing up the human six with other members of the Shadowbolts, you won't be able to really show what happened anyway.

I'd probably just change the dialogue to make it to where an altercation is apparent, or simply remove it entirely and insert something else. It's up to you, though.

"But then...what better outcome could there be for the Friendship Games...than for some actual friendships to be born from it?"

Love all Friendship Games fics, but I've got to say this is on my top 3. Bravo indeed! ~Ashtree

Why did this scene remind me of Axel and Roxas' first conversation in 358/2 Days?

Anyways, who's next?

This was great. Well done.:D

Aww, not unlike Dashie, Zap has a little soft spot.

Yay! Rainbow and Indigo best friends forever! :yay:
The awesomeness has been doubled!

SO AWESOME!!!! :pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy: I hope you can finish this story, I want to see all the chapters, good luck finishing this!!!

I feel like, in general, we have not heard the last of Cinch. at least in fanficion.

Can we get vinyl scratch and lemon zest next?

6475020 The girl with the yellow skin, ear piercings, goggles, and blue hair.

Thanks, I literally have no idea which one is which.(other than indigo zap now)

Principal Cinch was probably summoned by the coach with the news that Indigo and Rainbow just blew all the school's lap records into confetti and finished without any clear gap between them.

Indigo was originally supposed to be Lightning Dust.

Then they gave her a new name and color scheme. Though it's odd that none of her colors are actually indigo. Her hair is royal blue and teal.

This is nice, I say next should be either Pinkie Pie and Lemon Zest, or Applejack and Sugar Coat.

6475268 Well, that's interesting. I wonder why they changed her name.

Honestly, I like Indigo Zap's design. Looks cool.
Maybe it's because she's one of the few characters with a more "human" skin tone.

Wish there was more of the Crystal Prep characters in the movie, so I'm glad I get to see interpretations of them in stories like this.

6475305 I think they probably wanted all-new characters for the Shadow Five.

I've mentioned it before, but they remind me of Girls Und Panzer characters more than anything else.

Anime hair, varying degrees of bitchy competitiveness, led by a brutal, win-at-all-costs Adult, but decent sports once the chips are down.

Heck, the emblem on Sugarcoat's uniform is pretty close to Saunders Highschool's insignia.

6471184 while I agree BUT it is possible it happened after a month or so that "picnic" incident happened. As such Human Twilight had time to digest meeting and it became a memory... It WOULD be nice if author would explore more ( maybe in one-shot side story.) but it isn't imposable or OOC for Human Twilight to brush it off like it.

its good to see these two character intereact indigo zap are like dash but different
oh boy i would love to see whos next

"Well...it was kinda weird. I got to your auditions for the Games, and all I saw was a pair of girls wearing bird outfits and squawking at each other. Didn't know what was going on so I just left."

Missed opportunity, you could've had her say it was Sour Sweet that spied on them.

But aside from that, great chapter!

6475162 Lemon Zest - headphones girl, Sugarcoat - glasses girl who isn't Twilight, Indigo Zap - blue hared girl, Sour Sweet - ponytail girl, and Sunny Flare - the last girl.

Thanks for that, it's really helpful.
