The musician in me usually cringes whenever writers try to capture music or instruments in words. This was completely bearable, apart from the fact that Violins don't have frets.
It seemed decently written as far as I noticed, but I rarely read stories without being distracted by a million other things (including music) and rarely catch subtle mistakes.

Normally tiny strips of masking tape to help with beginners fingerings, but those are normally removed after the fourth or fifth month of consistent lessons. Celestia... how I hated losing those little strips of tape... It made me all self conscious and worried about my fingerings when I used to be able to doublecheck my place with a glance... Of course that was back in the fourth grade and I'm now eight years out of a full school career of strings experience Xb

I know, I happen to play violin, among other instruments.
Of course, tapes don't work the same way frets do, it's like having a lined fretless bass guitar, instead of a fretted. (I'm a bassist, primarily. In case you couldn't tell.
)
Some older violin-esque instruments (like viols, for instance) had frets. They helped playing in tune when playing chords, and had a different quality of sound than fretless instruments.
It was a pleasant read, I don't know much about instruments so I wouldn't know if you were inaccurate anywhere. Also, I didn't spot any typos!
Makes me sad for dropping my violin classes, but hey, I picked up art instead.
While I thoroughly enjoyed the Fluttercord in this, I don't think there's enough for a 'Romance' tag. You could say in the description that there is meant to be a somewhat mutual attraction, as there is, but because none of this is actually acknowledged I don't think the tag is necessary and this story shouldn't really be in the 'Main' part of the Fluttercord group.
It may mislead people, which leads to disappointment, which leads to illogical downvotes, and so on...
Anyway, nice story. Repeated at times, and felt a bit rushed, but overall I spotted only one grammar mistakes which is a good thing in any story.
This is the first story I've read from you, and it's rather promising. I'd encourage you, if you haven't already, to find a friend or two who can pre-read your work and catch any moments where the narrative slightly trips over itself. Personally, I found that the slight hints of romance distracted from the story, but you chose not to dwell on them. If I had to pick only one thing in this story to praise, it would be your concept of character voice. Every last character sounded and acted true to form, especially Discord's pranks and fits of impatience. Of course, I liked more about this story than just that. Have an upvote and a vote of confidence!

The most I know about stringed instruments is how to tune and play some guitar, and that you cant use a harmonic scale to tune a piano.

Well this was a pretty interesting story and it looks like Fluttershy became friends with Octavia but they've been friends for a while it seems and she took music class which everybody was pretty surprised that she can do this even Discord is as well and I would imagine how these two will play the instrument pretty cool I want to say this was a pretty nice story keep up the good work
