LOVED IT!
Seriously favorite Grump Goat story yet. The opening was just hilarious, everything worked well together, even the whole "not liking this dark a version of Equestria" deal, which again is just a personal preference issue, so well done. making clear the Church of Celestia plot-holes, are extremist assholes that everyone hates and not regular ponies. The Reverend was a great touch, showing what those professing to spread the 'Good word" of Celestia should actually be. The whole 'Black Widow" aspect being given a really nice twist for Coalsmoke. Not some predatory harpy descending on old or sick rich ponies to force themselves into their wills before helping them pass on. But trying to give good ponies who simply don't have much time left a loving wife to help them enjoy what time they have left.
Yeah this whole thing, really well done.
Only one issue to bring up, and that's a bit of "What is going on" near the start, after he invites the reporter to lunch, then they are at lunch, but suddenly it's treating it like they are at the funeral... the Priest barging in, all the guests there, everything acting like this is the funeral yet, no transition..... I get now that the funeral procession was meeting there before heading to the cemetery for the actual ceremony, but that could have been made clearer that was the case before all the shenanigans started to give them some context rather then feeling really weird and out of place.
Other then that... yeah this one was amazing.
