CM: Get Real

As the realization that they'd been puppeted by Sigma settled in, X, Zero, Octavia, and Axl all leveled their busters at the Maverick. "What did you do with Redips, Sigma?" X demanded angrily.

Sigma cackled wickedly. "What did I do with Redips? Oh you poor naive fool...I was Redips all along!"

"What?" Zero demanded in shock. "But...then why...? Was it all just to get back into power?"

"Actually-" Epsilon began.

"Shut up, cheap knock off!" Sigma snapped angrily. "This is my big moment, and they want me to talk! You are going to shut up and let me have my moment!" Once Epsilon subsided, Sigma turned back to the others. "From the first moment you met 'Redips', it was me. At first it was a remote Reploid drone I controlled...but once Copy Chip technology became available, I installed it into my own body and took his place. What safer place from your wrath than amongst your allies, after all?

"As for my plan..." Sigma chuckled darkly. "As long as you lot are the heroes and I am the villain, I can't win. So if I wanted to win, I had to make you the villains...and I knew just how to do it! I saw how fierce you became, X and Zero, when Octavia was threatened. How much more fierce would you be when you experienced having children? When it was those who sprung from your loins? So I made certain Gate completed his research and created Armatige.

"But it's not just you two I needed to shift," Sigma continued darkly. "Prometheus...he's a very dangerous relic of the past like you lot. I had to take him out of the action. So I tweaked Armatige's personality core while she was being constructed...so she would click perfectly with him. What better excuse to retire than having a loving wife, children, and not being needed? And with that proof that the technology worked...it was only a matter of time before things were in place."

"...that's why the New Type Reploids made sure we knew they were a threat to Omega and the others," Zero deduced angrily. "You wanted us to cut loose and stop caring!"

"Exactly!" Sigma declared. "The world saw you as heroes, defenders of justice! As long as you accepted that, I could not conquer you even if I defeated you. To tear you down from that...I had to drag you to the level of police - what you were meant to be all along as Maverick Hunters - upholding the law. When you reached the point that when the law says you didn't have to show mercy...you didn't. To turn you from Captain America to Judge Dredd. And once you stopped holding back...the whole world would see the monsters you really are."

"You really think you'll sway that much world opinion with one broadcast?" Massimo demanded irritably. "X, Zero, Axl, Octavia...they're known as heroes world wide! They have high ranked allies who know them personally! You really think you can convince them?"

"That's the beauty of it, you bumbling buffoon!" Sigma declared with a wicked laugh. "I don't want to convince those who know them personally. The very fact they do fits into my plans perfectly. Those in the world - officials or civilians - who do believe the broadcast will call for blood. Those who know you all personally will try to beg for calm, for reason...and be branded a part of your revolution! The world will descend into civil war and chaos...and I shall rise from it in the Ultimate Body created by the Binary Power of Ether, and take my rightful place as the God of Reploids!"

"You made one mistake!" Ferham snapped out angrily as she flared her engines. "You told us your plan before it was finished!" She charged forward, arms outstretched to tackle Sigma to the ground...only to pass right through him.

"That would be a mistake," Sigma cackled as his image flickered. "That is...if I were really here..." The image faded out. "If you still think you can stop me, come to my throne atop the tower where I look over my kingdom!"

"There's a teleporter over there!" Epsilon called out. "That must be where he went!" The group immediately took off in pursuit, in a desperate attempt to catch up with Sigma.

The other end of the teleporter led to plain corridors, elevators, and another warp pad. At the end of it all, the group found themselves in the chamber at the top of Jakob Tower, the interior completely colored golden as Sigma sat in a chair, circuitry connecting him to the room itself and the two pieces of Supra Force Metal orbiting each other in the massive dome directly above him. As he caught sight of the group, he grinned. "And my timing is perfect," he declared softly as energy began to arc through the room and the two chunks of Metal.

"What's that supposed to mean-" X began.

"Everyone out!" Epsilon roared out. "The room is designed to interface with his Copy Chip technology! When that ability gets supercharged by the Supra Force Metal, he'll be able to fully analyze the build code and abilities of everyone in the room, incorporating that data into his Ultimate Body!"

As everyone turned to try and leave, the door sealed shut. "And that's why I said my timing is perfect," Sigma purred wickedly. "You have just enough time to realize you've walked into my trap...and not enough time to escape it..."

The entire chamber blazed with light.
