Thank you so much for that. I too would like to save such, how do you say, controversial topics behind us for the time being. I much prefer talking about literature and stories anyways. Although (and if this falls under politics, just let me have this last say and then we can wipe our hooves/hands of this), I do remember you talking about a couple of Stephen King books that you said would be better once I learned more about your species' history. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind sending me those books sometime tomorrow?

Like I said, I should be done with these textbooks by then. I know you've already given me a bunch to read, and I'll happily give you back your library books if you feel nervous about me reading them before they're due. Although, what do you think? Should I just go ahead with the books you gave me? I'll be happy to read whatever, but now I'm even more anxious to read those other books now that I remembered about them.

Sorry, no pressure. Just give me whatever suggestion you recommend.

Your sentence sounds a little off to me, perhaps changing it to;

I too would like to leave such, how do you say, controversial topics behind us for the time being.

Or

I too would like to save such, how do you say, controversial topics for another time/more appropriate time.
