I've had this fic in my library for a small while now. Finally getting around to reading it, it's very different to what I've read before. Then again I don't read as much as I'd like. This was an interesting fic for me to read and hope it keeps up to however long you intend it to be. On the whole, I think the job you are doing is great. As a preface, I have not seen Brokeback Mountain so I cannot comment on how close this is.
Spoilers ahead, obviously:
I found this story in the Sensual Fiction Group. I love shipping, this sounded interesting and then this part of the description made me curious even more about it "Sex scenes are non-explicit." I love non-explicit sex scenes so I went in with a curious mind.
Then it happened, I loved the softcore sex scene in the first chapter, I love how you avoided describing en detail what part went were or what their genitals looked like during the act etc. By keeping it vague you left things to the reader's imagination and I feel that's a rare thing to find, be it in romance or clop. I guess that's a matter of personal preference but to me it was hot!
Then I proceeded to read the rest and the more it built up the more the feels hit me. They hit me HARD. I needed more than 2 hours to read this story because I had to stop every few moments the farther I got in to get a hold of myself again. I was and am a crying and sobbing mess now. I have only ever felt that moved by fiction with the fanfic Decay and its sequel and My little Dashie.
It's amazing how this one rather short story could give me such a quite contrasting set of emotions, from tickling my sexual fancy to heart wrenching sadness all in just 15000 words. What you did here was beyond amazing and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this with the world.
