Dragons naturally live much longer than normal Ponies or for that matter synthetic Alicorn Princesses. Spike never took Twilight's death well so Celestia and Luna took the kid under their wing. They also took in Discord or maybe Discord just invited himself in, either way Spikes moody teenage ways leave the three elder members of this little family confused and wondering how the hell one raises a teenage dragon. These are the awkward encounters one teenage dragon has with his Guardians and the spirit of chaos while living in Canterlot castle.
Note: This story takes place in a universe in which equestria is an island nation on earth.

Well I like this story, I just love it when it's one of the big three are raising Spike.
That doesn't seem like depressed behaviour.
How much of that stuff is Spike drinking? You'd think that a dragon would have to drink a hell of a lot of that stuff to actually be affected.
Spike's argument for his behaviour... It doesn't really come off as acceptable. I mean of all people he'd say it to, Celestia would know it best.
Oh well, still nice to read for some of those sweet and fuzzy moments. I don't know why this has so many dislikes. Sure it's not the best story, but it's not that bad.
6209860 My argument is that Spike is actually within the anger stage of the stages of grief. No his argument is not acceptable but he hasn't been able to express his anger and hurt because he feels that the public and by extension the royals feel he should be alright. In my mind he tells Tia because out of all the royals she is the most maternal and the one who spike knows the most (In a sense she is like his mom).
On the Scotch, 700 year old scotch would have allowed the alcohol content to reach approximately a petroleum level of alcohol molecules. About the amount that would kill a horse. I assume that a dragon could drink a bottle or two to get a really bad hangover.

I personally see them as all human when I write but you can read the situation however you wish, you're reading you have the power to make the choice, it is marked Anthro because that is how I am writing it. Secondly Discord and Luna aren't a thing simply because I feel that Discord wouldn't care that much about any relationship and refuse to write differently than I see the character.
That's not depression, that's called being a teenager. They are all assholes, and we were too at that age. Deny all you want but compared to your younger child self, and your more mature adult self, your teenage self was an asshole.
Hell my favorite song back then was Denis Leary's I'm an Asshole.

I don't think I meant for spike to really be overtly acting out of grief in the first chapter, I think that I was trying to establish a problem with Spike, allow you to create a bit of apathy towards the character of spike, and than create the rocky relationship with Luna. I got there eventually, but I most certainly did not do it the best.
