Ever since Moondancer could remember, there was at least one person she loved with a fiery passion. However, it wasn't a pony, but rather a dragon. This story follows a brief look on the first time she ever noticed Spike, how she managed to have feelings for him, and the inevitable fall out of her discovery of his crush to Rarity.

This Moondancer is different from the Moondancer seen in the show or the comics... Mainly because the inspiration, the cover you see before you, was made by samutoka prior to both those.

There are two depictions of Moondancer actually. The one on the comics which was her first appearance in current gen, and the one in that episode. Personally, I prefer the one from the comics.

6183975 I preferred the one in the comics too. Mainly because I like her brushable hair and it's not an obvious recolor to highlight the obvious foils they have.

Do we ever lose that 1st crush? time might burry it but it's still waiting for an answer. . .Is this the beginning or the end?

awesome

Why isn't there a folder for MoondancexSpike?

Great story i wish they had a moondancer character tag so i find more

There should be another chapter in the story about this.

While the ending scene is pretty cute and all, I get the feeling Moondancer is more than a little fixated on Spike, despite what she tells herself about waiting for either another Mr. Perfect to come up or for Spike to get over his feelings for Rarity. She talks to him a grand total of once for a few lines and only saw him on occasion in class, reading from the text, so that mare's got it pretty hard.

Between the comment about the mysterious disappearance of the Mare in the Moon and the Summer Sun celebration, am I to assume that Celestia repressed the news about Luna's return here or something until the time of Season 2? (Despite the whole party in Ponyville afterward Nightmare Moon's flanks got nuked by the Elements)

It's more of the idea that every pony not in Ponyville had no idea about Nightmare Moon or Luna. It sort of follows this sort of headcanon I have employed in Screwball where the ponies tend to turn a blind eye to the heroics of the ponies, even when they're blatant and in-your-face, thus explaining some of the Dude, Where's My Respect moments like in Sweet & Elite. Hence Moondancer's wondering of where the Mare went.

Now that was cute!
Not quite a ship I ever thought of but well done.:trixieshiftleft:
