Rarity bothers Maud.

That's just an unfortunate fact. Among all of Pinkie Pie's friends, Maud likes Rarity the least. She's too fussy, too picky... and she loves fashion, one of Maud's least favorite things in the world. For a mare with gems on her flank, the two of them simply do not get along.

Following the Grand Galloping Gala, Rarity approaches Maud about replacing that "gaudy old" dress of hers. Not wanting to be rude, Maud takes her up on the offer―but she quickly learns that dealing with an impatient fashionista like Rarity comes with problems of its own.

A short one-off about change and fashion.
Inspired by the PonyMania Maud toy, as well as a conversation with Hazeyhooves. Thanks to Pascoite for editing help.

Very nicely done. I can imagine Rarity's expression perfectly. Go Maude.

Maud and 'Shy. They make a nice couple. Thank you.

For the story. It was good.

That was very good. It was interesting to see the bit of Maud/Shy teasing? Or do I have my shipping goggles glued to my face again? Anywho... It was a good read, and I really liked the way Rarity and Maud just didn't click.

Satire is a form of comedy well suited to Maud: understated, subtle, and devastating when properly applied. A very strong statement, this. Excellent work in making a ridiculous toy into a great character piece.

I love the hell out of this premise, and as much as it would normally pain me to see my favorite charactrt being knocked down a peg, I like how this turned out

*breaths through nose*

'Kay. For those that have looked at this, skipped the story, skimmed the comments and left without enjoying every word written here, I have this to say.

Ahem...

You're all idiots.

That is all.

Craine...

:duck: "Spikey is it that obvious?"
:moustache: "twenty seven empty cartons of Ice cream & the strong smell of vanilla oat swirl says yes".
:raritycry: "I've failed as a designer Spikey what am I to do?"
:moustache: "cry on my shoulder?"
:raritydespair: Waaaaaaaaaaa bru ha ha Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I shall have my fashion revenge!

Have you ever considered submitting this story to Equestria Daily? You can find out how to do so here.

This story is already on Equestria Daily, dude. You might want to check the archives before you go around making comments.

When this was being cleaned up for Equestria Daily, EqD prereader and all around awesome guy Pascoite gave me some help with the geology metaphors and similes. The first quote of yours is a bit of a tribute to him. :derpytongue2:

So, quick question: Do you know what "Gaudy" means? Because you don't seem to be using it properly. It is, in fact, the antithesis of Maud's sense of fashion (frankly, gaudy is what I'd say if I was insulting Rarity's fashion sense) and not an insult that is hardly ever appropriate to pair with 'frumpy'. "Gaudy" is what the toy you're using in the picture for the story is.

I know, it's not a comment about the quality of the story, but I do think not misusing words in the summary is helpful for attracting readers.

Sad, but true. The dress covered with flower stickers? Now THAT would be the very definition of "gaudy."
Still, I liked the story, and it fits my "Maude the troll" head-canon.

Ah, I'd forgotten how annoyed I was with the summary here. It's just patently backwards. Might as well say "Rarity was annoyed with Maud's constant nudism". It's not true and anyone who's seen the characters can tell it's not true. "Frumpy" would work though.

Fortunately, the story in general is pretty good, other than also completely misusing the word "gaudy".

Kinda irritated this was picked as a Rarity Day fic on EQD. I was expecting something nice, this was hurtful towards Rarity's character and felt like it was written by someone who only sees her 2 dimensional and vain. I felt insulted as it comes off more as a Rarity hate piece.

:rainbowlaugh:

Yeah, this is not exactly a Rarity-positive piece. If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't involved at all in the selection. AFAIK, the "Pony Day" fics are basically just a selection of the best rated fics on EqD featuring that character.

Thanks for reading, though!
