Hey there. All I can say is, excellent one-shot. :-D That was some superb quickie detective work by Rainbow and it was a very entertaining introduction to the first season's main villain. I'll definitely be looking forward to some more stories in this series as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

6035982 hehe thanks, I felt it was fairly lackluster myself, though apart from introducing our main villain (for at least a while), it also shows more changes to canon, as well as properly bring up Iron Will Industries, a very powerful company in this equestria.

You're quite welcome. :-D

Well well. Sounds like Grand Heist took lessons from a certain female master thief. I never thought I would see a male version of Carmen.

6086257 XD oh please, Grand Heist is nothing like Carmen Sandiego

but to say more would be spoilery ;3

I'll be honest:
This is the only one of the stories so far in your Rainbow is Magic verse that I didn't really like.
This is for a few reasons:
1. It doesn't feel like a complete story.
2. What little story that was here felt like it moved too fast.
3. Nothing that happened in it really stood out to me.
4. Oddly enough, despite finding most of it moving too quickly, the scene at the beginning felt more like padding than anything else.

On the other hand:
I am intrigued as to who Grand Heist really is (although I have an idea), and I'm also curious as to where this world's version of Carrot Cake is.
And it wasn't really a bad story either... It was just... okay.
In fact, this actually felt like a filler story. And this is the first time I've ever said that about any story I've read.

6361391 yeah it pretty much is a filler story, or a build up to future plotlines. I WAS thinking of including it with another story featuring grand heist or something, but then decided it would work best as a one-shot leading into future stories. I WAS gonna have grand heist actually fight dash and the girls a bit more, including a climax that involved them rushing to stop the train from driving over a cliff while grand heist escapes, but I felt I didn't want to make grand heist seem to dangerous just yet. I am VERY excited for other stories I have planned that will feature him though.

As for Carrot Cake, I currenty envision him as working the spa now for some reason, but who knows maybe others will have better ideas for him.

so, what DO you think of grand heist? and what are your theories on his identity?

I would be working on cutie mark crusaders, spectrum of the rainbow and/or hearths warming play, but my computer broke down and I need to wait some time to get what I can off my old hard drive and onto my semi-new computer, so I'll be working on the followup to this story instead. and I have posted my future and potential story plans in a blog entry on my profile here, so check that out if you want.

6363589 All right then.

Actually, I think that is the most interesting thing this version of Carrot Cake could be doing.

Grand Heist was about the only thing really interesting about this particular story. As for his identity: Well, it's kind of a stretch, but the only character that comes to mind is Trixie using a very advanced illusion spell.
And really that only comes about because of "his" love for shiny things and the fact that this is the sixth story you've started in your universe, and Trixie first appeared in the sixth episode of the main show.

I think I will check the blog entry.

6363732 you go do that.

and I didn't know that about trixie's episode o3o interesting coincidence. Actually, you're the first person to suggest Trixie, and I actually been waiting for ages to come to that conclusion. I'm not saying whether you're write or not, just saying I'm surprised how noone else has yet come to that conclusion despite my thinking otherwise. Also, Grand Heist looks EXACTLY like The Mysterious Mare Do well, except with yellow/gold,white and red for the colours. I thought for sure I descirbed what he looked like...

and yeah, the main reason this story exist is to debut Grand Heist, who will serve as the main antagonist for msot of what I would consider this verse's 'first season'.

6363752 I'll double check at some point to see if you described him in this.

Well now, Grand Heist is obviously Sunset Shimmer here.

" And rest assured, I will make you pay, and you will NEVER hurt anypony ever again, mark my "

This sentence is not complete as is.

Cup Cake giggled lightly, laying a comforting hoof on her marefriend’s shoulder. “Oh hush, she meant nothing by it. Well, Miss Dash, to answer your question, EVERY chef is welcome to compete if they feel they’re able, and if merely competing will be great advertising for us! Heck, we might even attract someponies from Canterlot if we do well enough!”

Rainbow Dash gestured her hooves for quiet. “Possibly, however this is an Iron Will Industries developed train, you can tell due to the distinctive styling of the wheels and metalwork, and thus should have a limited guidance system to allow the conductor short breaks, not to mention not needing to constantly consume fuel like older models. And there is one other thing: nopony’s, or griffon’s, or donkey’s appendages have any substance leftover from handling a dessert, unless they were very quick to run three cars down to wash their hands (hooves)and come back without anyone hearing or waking up, and even then there’d still be some small traces, considering most of us also WALK on all fours, even griffons.” She turned to the conductor. “You’re the only one whose hooves I haven’t inspected, and while you lack motive, you lack a solid alibi too. I’d rather remove all variables first before we do anything else.”

Also, there was gonna be more of a fight on the train (much like how originally Apple to the Core would’ve had the Bad Apples rob the train when it first came to Appleoosa only to get caught up in a fight against the Mane Six) but I decided that it’d be bet (best) to not have that sorta thing happen yet. Also, Grand Heist would’ve attempted to drive the train over a cliff at one point, but again, I felt it was too soon for that sort of thing.

same gender pairings don't change a rating. Why the hell would they?
