I'm not a brony; just a guy who can appreciate good works when he sees them.

Sunset Shimmer couldn't believe it. All of her plans, all of her dreams being destroyed by the pathetic purple pony in front of her and her fake friends. Even now, she could feel the magic gathering around them, and with it, the death of her conquest of Equestria.

At least, right until her eyes spotted the waiting portal right behind them, and in her desperation hit upon a deceptively simple plan.

No...she would not fall here. Not until everything Princess Twilight Sparkle loved was destroyed before her very eyes.

And she knew exactly how to do it.

how it really shoulda ended.

sunset gets curbed stomped by three alicorns and or obliterated by the crystal. heart detecting her.

6080185 Excuse me if I like to go against the grain then.

By the way, the Crystal Heart seems to function under a manual operation for oblierating evil if the comics are any indication when Sombra took over, so if Sunset could keep any of them from going to activate it she would be safe.

6080235 there is a difference between going against the grain, and creating a scenario that is implausible to occur. sunset would have stood no chance, period.

also cadance being brainwashed is large on the plot convenience spectrum.

nice

6080268 Oh look, it's you! Is it your job to hate on other stories or something?

6080185 Get curb stomped by three alicorns...?:rainbowhuh:

Based on what fighting skills?...:trixieshiftright:

The one that got kidnapped by a bug?...or the two that got kidnapped by plants?...:derpyderp1:

Obliterated by the crystal heart?.,.:trixieshiftleft:

Oh you mean the one that let king Sombra take over and enslave an entire empire?...:derpyderp2:

We all have our own head cannon, and it is one of the main reasons why reading fanfiction is so fun!

6080765 The one that commands the evil slaying crystal heart, the thousand year old Veteran that defended equestria from a world full of demon lords, and the pony who fights off nocturnal monsters every night.

Seriously your entire sentence is just short sighted and ignorant. Especially the part of them getting kidnapped by plants. Plants that were draining the life force of a god tree mind you.

6080776 Again an evil slaying heart that was taken over by Sombra who is a regular (if not powerful) unicorn.

Sombra, the one who got one over on both Celestia and Luna...two alicorns against one regular unicorn.

This proves that a unicorn can in fact beat an alicorn.

alicorns are not omnipotent or all powerful.

Not to mention that all that fighting prowess you mentioned is no where evident in the show.

It might be mentioned/shown in the comics, but as far as the show is concerned there has not been a major fight that either alicorn has participated in for centuries.

The one that commands the evil slaying crystal heart,

Kidnapped by Chrysalis, and had to have Spike help her to save the empire...then imprisoned by Tirek after giving her powers to Twilight...Has not ever participated in battle as far as the show is concerned.

the thousand year old Veteran that defended equestria from a world full of demon lords

The veteran that did not discover Chrysalis, and when she end up fighting she ended up getting beat...The veteran who could not beat Sombra, but sends her student to do so...The veteran who could not fight off a plant that 5 regular ponies could...A veteran that bows out of fighting Tirek, but again sends her student to do so...

Just the fact that she was tricked and beaten by Chrysalis shows that she is not only able to be tricked, but also able to be over powered.

the pony who fights off nocturnal monsters every night

You mean the same thing a night light does?...

In all seriousness we never see Luna fight anything more than a bad dream.

There is no point in the show where Luna fights anything...in fact the only times she could have were during the changeling invasion where she was absent until it was over, and then the Tirek fight where she gave up her powers and was lock away with the other princesses.

Seriously your entire sentence is just short sighted and ignorant.

My words were flippant, but they were designed to be.

Like I said in the previous post we all have our own head canon, and not all of us actually read the comics.

6080268 So you're saying that if Sunset had the element of surprise, near alicorn level strength herself, and took advantage of the fact that likely none of the alicorns in question would unleash their full power around ponies (The Mane Six) that could be hurt in the cross-fire, she couldn't logically create a scenario where she could, at least temporarily, come out on top? Who strikes first and how well often decides the outcome of a battle, and Sunset took full advantage of that.

I took what abilities Sunset's demon form showed and applied them accordingly: If she can brainwash normal humans, who's to say she can't brainwash others, even beings as strong as alicorns? Cadance isn't as strong as Luna, but Luna would be reluctant to go all-out against her niece, plus Sunset would have a logical motive to do that to Cadance if you've read countless other Sunset fics. The Mane Five added to that would just be a bonus.

Thus, she's left to fight Celestia, who while still stronger than Sunset would be reluctant to use her full power against her former student, just like she was hesitant to use it against Luna when she first became Nightmare Moon.

I believe it's a perfectly possible, if unlikely to some, scenario. You're free to disagree, but I would expect you to at least respect my personal opinions on this.

6081536 Everything you just stated was plot convenience. They are all scenarios you created solely to create this incident, rather than something that is set up more naturally.

For starters, pretty damn sure that brainwashing a bunch of humans is not the same as brainwashing something with magic in their blood. Alicorns especially probably have ways to withstand that magic using who knows how many abilities.
The regal sisters were RIOGHT FUCKIN THERE. And either would be more powerful than her, or at least strong enough to hold her off. Also they have teleportation if you do not remember.
The little army she gathered would be as useful as an army of pugs. Brainwashing kinda reduces your combat efficiency, mainly if it zombiefies you.

If something is this unstable under scrutiny, there is an issue there. Ignoring it does no one favors.

6080831 this is a major issue with a lot of fanfics. Using information that supports the fic but not contradicts it. Even when the contradiction is more valid.

Even IF they were not strong enough to defeat sombra a seperately a thousand years ago, what logic is there to say that they are not more than powerfu lenough now? Especially since we have Celestia with a thousand yuars of practice, experience, and growth? How many times would beings like sombra, chrysalis, or sunset have attempted to overthrow equestria in that time? And how else would you explain how Equestria stands sitll when even the elements were no longer an option then?

Put simply when you handicap demigods to get the story going, that is just bad writing. Almost as bad as using ill thought out semantics and terms like 'like a night light does' when we are talking about a fantasy world that probably at the Dnd monster manual.

6081536 I would not bother arguing too much with lordofmyth...

He is far too deep into his own head canon theories that he cannot see (or respect) someone else's

Take what you can from the experience and keep up the good work.

6081636 I had to try, if nothing else.

Also, thank you for your comments. I do appreciate the kind words.

It's my first time saying this, but...

FIRST!!! :trollestia: :rainbowlaugh:

Well done sir!

Well I like it! hope to see a sequeal.

Well.

That was a suitably epic fight, though it certainly does shoot down any prospect of Sunset ever returning home, unlike the Homesick Shimmer subplot that got cut out of Friendship Games. I suppose the only thing that could use some more detail is Sunset's grudge against Princess Cadance. While she does have a few lines about her despising of Cadance, some more oomph could be done.

I do admit to a little bit of disappointment, if only because I was expecting it to end with Sunset dying.

Okay, this is definitely what the ending the first movie was missing. It is suitably epic, good detail, love the emotions in the confrontation between Sunset and Princess Celestia, the "real" Sunset calling, struggling with the demon she had become was interesting to behold. Oh what can I say I loved it all.

Furthermore, you presented a rather believable scenario in which Demon Sunset could actually fight three alicorns and the rest of the mane six (barring Twilight) and temporarily come out on top. I read a comment in the first chapter saying how implausible it was, but that didn't make any damn sense to me: she had the element of surprise, didn't hold back-yeah, I'm surprised no one was more seriously hurt if outright dead.

Finally, I'm glad you kept true to the overall theme of redemption in Sunset's character and didn't just kill her off. It would have been very easy to do and would have led to a very different atmosphere in the conclusion and there wouldn't have been anything wrong with that path, but this stays true to the series theme of friendship and forgiveness overcoming all.

So, in conclusion, thanks for writing this. It was a fun ride, and I really wish this was how the movie actually ended.

I don't actively call for his blood and I frown upon excessive cruelty towards him when it gets out of character for others, but that doesn't mean I would risk my credibility to defend him and I will laugh with the best of them when the pain given is carried out with tact.

You might want to stay away form the Seven Days in Sunny June series, then.

I would've loved this as its ending but I probably would've loved to see sunset calling celestia mom for help kind of a token trope when someone is in a xire situation but eh it would hit me hard af in the geels

Perfect. If this was the actual eqg movie I still loved it but this; this is perfection. I love all of it there's no flaws just perfection
