The Great and Powerful Trixie grew up having it all: loving family, supportive friends, and an unbeatable magic show. That’s what she tells herself, at least.

There is a time in The Great and Powerful Trixie’s past that she would prefer to not remember. A time when she knew only one spell. A time when she lived in a backwater town. A time when she went by a different name…

Now that is sort of the way I imagined Trixie all along. What a great story! Thank you!

Poor Trixie! That's a neat origin story, though.

"You’re every bit as good as a regular earth pony."

With that sentence, you convey everything we needed to know about Trixie's life up until that point. Even her own mother saw her as defective, an irregularity to be pitied. And then she showed them just how weak she was...

Loved this in the Writeoff, love it now. Thank you for putting it up.

I liked that, great job, keep writing docs like this and you've got yourself a follower!

I just love that Trixie was totally Scootaloo. :V

The simple racism to set things up was a bit of a let down, but I would say that does help a lot in keeping the word count lower, and frankly kids can often be mean like that (and get away with it like these ponies did).

Hey now, I draw the line at scootabuse :scootangel:

Kids think up and get away with some disturbing stuff, especially when there isn't much else to do. If it wasn't Beatrix, it would've been the smallest earth pony, or the one that talked funny...

I should have voted for this more during the contest because this is really good back story.

Is there more than one chapter?

5996343 The story is tagged as complete. I don't expect it. I definitely wouldn't mind one though. I like the characters and think that this could be a really good story.

Yep, the story will have only one chapter. I'm glad you liked it :pinkiehappy:

5997271 I'm glad you wrote it.

Sunset Shimmer was driven by her lust for more power.

While Starlight Glimmer has a messiah complex.

Trixie's on the other hand, only someone who has insecurities blabs that much about how great they are, the truly arrogant take they're indescribably great as FACT and see no reason to blab it everywhere. (Take a look at Sunset, she thought she was better than CELESTIA, and she didn't waste time blabbing ABOUT how great she was. Starlight only rambled when she had her insane mentality challenged (like any zealot).)

Trixie's the first act? Oh boy. 0-0

The applause redoubled, and a single word swept through the audience until it became a chant. From filly to wizened stallion, every pony in her view started shouting the same thing: more.

Basic rule of a magician, always leave the audience WANTING more.

She threw her hat aside and nodded. “Your wish is my command!”

:-(

I feel like 'The Great and Powerful Trixie' was just a stage persona before Ponyville. I like the idea that she was at an early age leaning into this and during her time of Equestria-wide infamy she was basically consumed by her persona. The creature known as Beatrix couldn't handle the lows she had to endure.
