When Rainbow's house is destroyed by a drunken pegasus, her whole past begins to unravel before her, dredging up memories she would rather keep forgotten.
It's up to Applejack and her friends to make sure that she gets through the ordeal, but things turn from bad to worse when an unwelcome visitor arrives to stir up trouble.
Whether she wants it or not, Rainbow's life is about to change dramatically... and it doesn't look like it'll be for the better.

I've studied metals, alloys, ceramics and polymers. I've observed their structures and their uses and can calculate the deflection of a beam using strain analysis methods. I've looked at finite element analysis and have beamed light through plastic to the point that my sample was reduced to dust.

Honestly, though, I don't really know who I'm madder at or more disgusted with; Bullit and Rattle, for their part in all this, or the stupid ponies (and yes, Dash called that right when she called them all "stupid") of Ponyville!
I mean, Dash has lived here for how long now, and has saved both the town and their sorry, ungrateful carcasses how many times now?! She's the former Bearer of the Element of Loyalty (which, I'm thinking, would not have even bonded with her in the first bloomin' place if she hadn't changed!), a hero of Equestria, is held in high regard by the Sovereign Princesses of the kingdom, and is best friends not only with five of the coolest mares on the planet, but also the Princess of Magic and Friendship!
And they collectively don't even know Bullit and Rattle from a hill'a beans, other than they're two ponies that Rainbow "attacked" and was "bullying".
I have one very succinct word for Rainbow's so-called neighbors: idiots.
And I just have the strong feeling that Twilight and the other girls will, too, once they find out about this.
And okay, she lost her temper, but those two thugs deliberately provoked her, knowing full well what would happen if other townsponies saw this (and probably with the aim of causing her to lose everything; not gonna work, you jerks), and very likely not taking into account that one of Dash's best friends is the strongest, most honest mare in Ponyville.
Oh, yeah. Bullit? Rattle? You is screwed, little foals. You is so, so screwed. You just messed with the wrong mare here.

6099814 I like to think that a lot of villains are actually a pretty likeable bunch. I enjoyed plenty of antagonists, oftentimes more than the heroes. It's been a pretty rare occurence that I properly hate villains, for some reason. In this case, though, I went out of my way to make Bullit and Rattle utterly detestable. I see it's working.

I highly recommend them, as they're very good.
One of the prominent creatures of the books, the Companions (beautiful, snow-white, blue-eyed, horse-like creatures (hint: they're not horses; they just look like them. I'll found a picture, and post it, if you'd like), that serves as mounts and, well, companions; to the Heralds.
And the other races of the books, hertasi, kyree, dyheli; etc.; are really cool, too. But it's the Companions and the gryphons that are what make the books for me.

6085908 Well, considering that normal clouds normally float with the wind, evaporate, break apart, and change altitudes depending on various circumstances, then it would be safe to say that a normal cloud house would be heavily enchanted. I would believe that using magic could also intefere with the enchantments and cause the clouds to disperse, destroying Rainbow's house.
6102878 I named her Greased Lightning because I wanted her to be a mechanic for some reason (hence grease). I liked the idea that she'd have given Scootaloo her scooter or something. I also wanted her to be a bit like Scoots, so something to do with speed felt appropriate (hence lightning).
I'd heard the term greased lightning used, but not in the context of the song. I knew I wanted to use it as a name, though.
Looks like I got Bullit's name wrong from the last chapter. I thought I read that it was Blue Bullit, not Bullit Blaze.

I really, really like the bit where Scoot's mom didn't get mad, go off on Rainbow, and throw her out the way some would have after what happened.

I'm also glad to see that AJ and the family took her in "temporarily" (why do I get the feeling that it won't stay that way?) til they get to the bottom of this, deal with Bullit and Rattle, and get things back to normal.
And for Celestia's sakes, I hope that Twilight ends up reaming out the ponies who witnessed what happened between Rainbow, Bullit and Rattle for their blind foolishness, and let them know what she thought of them turning on one of the mares who has protected Ponyville, and by extension, Equestria itself, so many times.
Then I hope that AJ steps in and gives 'em all a second one.
What I'd really like to see? Those two losers go up against a certain hard-working champion apple-bucker, and try their crap with her. Something just tells me that they'd be in even worse shape than when they tangled with Dash.
Especially after being introduced (rather forcefully, methinks) to Bucky McGillicuddy and Kicks Magee!
And that's not even counting a certain Princess of Magic and Friendship being thrown into the mix!
