This story is a sequel to A shooting nightmare
This story will undergo a massive rewrite starting from the new chapter...provided I can even get the motivation...
It's been three years since the little Crescent Moon revealed herself to the world. Far behind her were the days where she was a tiny little filly that came flying from the sky and ruined Mathews' drink. She was now a fully grown mare with a different perspective on reality. She doesn't spend much time in the presence of people other than Mathews, but she has spent time with the forest hillbillies who revealed something interesting to her, and they could be the cure to her nightmares and past misdeeds.
She needed to return to Equestria and right her wrongs, but Mathews Fore won't let her leave on her own. Crescent just hopes she doesn't accidentally deviate from the original course towards Canterlot and ends up seeing things unknown to her very limited knowledge of Equestria.

Sure, she would be an intrigue and interesting, for sure,

Interesting start. I can tell you're still getting your mojo back. The descriptive paragraphs in the opening tell us our surroundings, at least, but then we segue to Mathews and Crescent, who are just kind of sitting around. A scene where she spoke to the neighbors is referred to, but not explained in detail. Actually that might have made for a more attention-grabbing start. Imagine this:
Backyard BBQ at Mathews' house. An unfamiliar human guest with black and blue hair shows up. Boom! She transforms, and to everyone's surprise it's Crescent. "Was my imitation of a feeble, inferior human sufficient?" She announces to all the neighbors that she wants to reveal herself to the rest of the human world. They manage to talk her out of it. She pouts and retaliates by eating all the ice cream. But Mathews knows that something more is bothering her; she hasn't been sleeping well lately. And from there we go to the living room scene where she tells Mathews about the nightmares and what she really wants to do: return to Equestria to atone for her misdeeds.
But that's entirely up to you.

5903750 It's an unfortunate and unwanted trade off that happened when I was told I needed to bring back the more detailed descriptions (I was being lazy because I expected everybody to already know how places like the Crystal Kingdom looked like and didn't want to describe the same things over and over again). And no. The sentence was supposed to be something else, but I changed it at the last minute during writing. I guess that was a leftover. Fixed.
I do admit it could have been a better start, but I wanted it to seem lazy at first compared to the hustle and bustle of the first story.

A bit late to the party, but I seem to remember some antagonistic eldritch force messing with little Nightmare in the first story.
Now we find her following the dubious advice of old weirdos and jumping blindly into a vortex she can only assume leads to Equestria...
...With barely a farewell to the man that raised her...
Can't tell is she is being a thoughtless impulsive teenager or what.
Also what did she think her father was going to do?
Let his little girl, the only reason he has to live blindly throw herself into the literal unknown?
So we now have a socially inept alicorn teenager responsible for her pegasus foal father... in a land neither have a slightest clue how to navigate.
Also one of their party is known as the fallen goddess of death, destruction, and nightmares... and wearing the iconic armor.
This can only end in tears... or laughter. But probably tears.
