Love in Your Eyes

This one shot story is a cute take on Rainbow Dash Twilight Sparkle shipping.

"Love in your eyes..."

It was a dark and stormy night when Twilight heard pounding at the library door.

"Who can that be?" Twilight wondered. "On a night like this no less." She approached the door and opened it.

Standing in the doorway was a completely drenched Rainbow Dash.

"Hey Twi... Can i come in?" Dash asked, not sounding overly pleased, and was shaking from the cold.

"Of course... what happened?"

"Rainstorm that was scheduled for tonight got delivered early... I got caught and I'm grounded till the rain lets up."

"Well, don't go shaking yourself off. Too many books here." Twilight lead Dash upstairs to the washroom. "Take a nice hot bath to warm up. I'll set up the spare bed."

Dash shook her head. "Don't worry, the rainstorm is only a couple hours. After that I'll just head home."

Twilight turned the water of and tested it with her hoof. "Sorry Dash, but you're staying the night."

"But... My cloud bed is calling me."

"Rainbow Dash, you live in a cloud. How can that keep you from getting soaked in a rainstorm."

Dash grinned. "It's a special cloud house I bought up in Cloudsdale and had shipped here. It's as solid to weather as this tree, only not solid to non Pegasus Ponies."

Twilight gave Dash an odd look. "If it can't hold me, how can it stop the rain or snow."

"Pegasus Pony magic of course." Dash grinned. "But, I gotta thank you for the bath."

Twilight turned off the taps. "Towels are here. Shampoo and conditioner on the stand and bubble bath... Oh, I forgot to add it."

"Hey, no need..." Dash had started to argue against he bubble bath, but it was too late. Twilight had already dropped in a bubble bead and used her magic to create the pink foam. "..."

"There you go. Just relax and get cleaned up. I'll go set up your bed and make some hot cocoa." With that, Twilight 'pranced' out the door, looking oddly happy.

Dash sighed and shut the door. She turned and looked at the pink bubble bath. "Well, it's still a nice hot bath."

She lowered herself into the perfect water and almost moaned with pleasure. The heat and the light fragrance from the pink bubbles were heavenly.

Twilight had set up the spare bed in her room in a matter of seconds. After that, she headed back downstairs.

Passing the bathroom, she heard singing and some light splashing.

"Love in your eyes

Sitting silent by my side

Twilight just stood there, in total awe that her brash friend could sing such a beautiful song, and her voice was so smooth and soft. It was almost as though it was not Rainbow Dash in there.

Some more splashing brought Twilight out of her mild stupor. She quietly slipped downstairs and into the kitchen. It didn't take long for her to make some hot cocoa, and just in time.

Dash walked into the kitchen, a fluffy lavender towel wrapped around her mane. "Oh wow, it's been ages since I had a relaxing bubble bath. I don't get hot water in my place."

Twilight smiled and made the hot cocoa with star shaped marshmallows. "Shall we head into the other room? I've got some cushions already layed out." She levitated the two mugs and started for the kitchen door.

"So, did you like it?" Dash asked, blushing as she smiled.

"L... Like what?" Twilight nearly fumbled and dropped the mugs, and thankfully didn't spill the cocoa.

"My singing. I saw your shadow under the bathroom door the whole time I was singing."

Twilight smiled sheepishly. "It was very beautiful. I never imagined you could sing like that, and your voice..." She turned and headed into the main room, mainly to hide her pink tinted face.

Dash followed and joined Twilight on the soft cushions. "Yea... I, um, I kinda learned how to sing like that a long time ago."

This surprised Twilight. "Really? From who? Fluttershy?"

"She's my oldest friend and has a beautiful voice, but no. I learned from my mom actually. Lilium Litany. She says I sing like an angel." Dash chuckled before starting to dry her hair.

Twilight watched Dash, waiting till she was done. "Rainbow Dash? Do you think you could teach me how to sing?"

"Are you kidding? I've heard you sing a few times. You're a wonderful singer."

Twilight blushed at the praise. "That was quite a while ago... Winter wrap up and at the Gala, I think."

Dash nodded. "Yea, and you sounded wonderful. My voice always cracks up when I sing around others."

"But you sounded... Well, like an angel when you were singing up in the bath."

"Mom taught me that song. It's called See Me Fly."

"Well, it's a very beautiful song." Twilight smiled, then looked at Rainbow's mane and tail. "Do you think you could sing it again? The door was in the way." She smiled and levitated a brush from somewhere. She then sat behind Rainbow Dash.

"Um... I dunno... What are you doing?" Dash asked a moment before Twilight started gently coming her mane.

"You don't want tangles." Twilight replied. "So... how did that song go? Love in your eyes, sitting silent by my side?"

Dash smiled and closed her eyes. She was nervous, but the gentle combing helped relax her. She opened her mouth and sang.

Twilight moved next to Dash and sat silent by her side. She closed her eyes and just listened. Her heart felt the light aery tone of the singing and felt like she herself was flying.

Finally, the song came to and end and she opened her eyes, turned and looked into those bright dusty rose eyes.

Dash smiled and leaned against Twilight. "I promised I would only sing that song for the one pony that my heart opened too."

"Love in your eyes..." Twilight spoke softly, almost singing. "...and in my heart."

583430 You are correct. I think I've been doing remarkably well for keeping down the number of potential spelling errors on my own, just using the spell checker... sadly, it doesn't always catch everything.

Also, Dimondium has been smashed with the ban hammer (I blocked him). I don't mind some help, but when ppl pretty much just smash me in the face with my mistakes, I pretty much loose all my patience.

You based Rainbow's song on this one, right? Either way, it was great! My only advice would be to put a link to the song somewhere in the story. Like:

"Passing the bathroom, she heard singing and some light splashing."

Actually listening to the song while reading the lyrics for it improves the experience vastly.

That was adorable but the pacing was a bit fast and the over all descriptions were lacking/non-existent.
