This was a really nice story. Now I have the urge to start chanting 'sequel sequel'.

but for the young caretaker wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world

I believe that's just supposed to be "but the young caretaker wouldn't trade it for anything else in the world."

population was recovering

'were"

had past since then

"passed"

the rest his history.”

"is"

Blushing Fluttershy

There should be a comma in between here.

what its like to

"it's"

Oh. so well done!

Yay! That was cute. Got a case of the warm and fuzzies. Could be an episode.

5622413 actually, 'was' is used correctly here. the noun, population, is proceeded by 'the,' thus classifying the noun as a singular. any singular noun should always be followed by 'was,' not 'were.' A very common mistake, that even i've made in the past.

The Alice in Wonderland title is not lost on me. But seriously, this was really good.

Ironic. I make this picture on deviantart

img09.deviantart.net/4e74/i/2015/067/3/5/mlp__mock_turtle_by_princestaghorn-d8kzo4u.jpg

Actually a species of rodent, there are several species of mock turtle: the Common Mock Turtle shown above (native to the Equestrian coast), the Western Mock Turtle (native to the Emerald Sea), the Neighpon Mock Turtle (actually found from Neighpon to Manechuria), and the Fossic (Hosstralia).

Once commonly hunted, Mock Turtles are now protected, and are a common sight along the coasts. Unusually for such gentle creatures, they are adored by griffins as pets.

Then I just happen to find this fic! I love it!

Fluttershy added a few drops of the potion into the food of the town carpenter's pet walrus. He gave a thankful arf before digging into the oysters. Fluttershy smiled and patted him on the head. “Now be a good boy and eat up. Not too fast though! We don’t want you getting a tummy ache.”

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes—and ships—and sealing-wax—
Of cabbages—and kings—
And why the sea is boiling hot—
And whether pigs have wings.
Callooh, callay, no work today!
We're cabbages and kings!" :pinkiecrazy:

Great story. The idea of Gilda having a pet (mock) turtle makes so much sense for some reason and can only hope they do something similar in a later episode. They really need to bring Gilda back.

Like someone else said, I won't be opposed to a sequel of some kind even if just another one-shot.

This was nice.

Although there was already an episode reforming the friendship between Rainbow and Gilda. This story is great in showing how Fluttershy and Gilda can make amends.

Also, kuddos to Fluttershy for being the one to repair such broken friendships.

This was cute, but not overly so . Might be an episode even. A children-cartoon-level of simplicity. Ah! I wish we had more of those !
