Hmmm... my solution would have been to omit him, and then put a line in the long description (or at the start of the story?), specifying that it occurs some time before "Keep Calm and Flutter On" in the continuity.
To each there own, and I understand that setting a story in the most current canon has advantages (especially if one wishes a larger readership?).

You are quite welcome. I didn't mean to barge in and tell you "Rewrite this!" so I'm glad you took it the right way, and yeah, you always risk alienating your readers with a re-write, no matter how much better it makes the story in the eyes of yourself or the rest of your readers, so an alternate ending is the way to go if you do go ahead with using my suggestion. Wish I'd thought of that.
