Prologue: Once Upon A Time

Once Upon A Time.

In a land filled with magical talking ponies, where everybody- sorry; everypony lived in peace and harmony. Fueled by the power of love and friendship, Equestria was a world bathed in light, protected by its generous all-powerful monarchs - who for some reason apparently don't address themselves as "Kings" or "Queens".

One day: a young studious unicorn, Twilight Sparkle, student under the great - with questionable wisdom - Princess Celestia, discovers an ancient prophecy informing the return of the forsaken banished sister to the Princess. While those around her were dismissive of her worries to this reemerging threat, Twilight was sent to a smaller town from the kingdom she spent her whole life within, to discover the importance and power of friendship.

But you all know this.

And this is not her story.

This is my story.

Across another world, far from Equestria itself, a young man, a brony slowly getting his way into the show and its fanbase, disgruntled and disgusted with the planet and species he resided with, was one minute asleep in his average cozy bed, to suddenly finding himself in the middle of My Little Pony's Ponyville. What's worse: he found himself in the form of one of the world's species.

An Earth Pony, to be exact. How boring is that?!

Shocked, confused, anxious and incredibly angry, our young stallion finds himself thrust into the beginning of the first episode, all the way to the finale of the last.

As he aids the Mane Six in their quests with his limited knowledge and sarcastic wit, he seeks for the truth: how did he get here? Why him of all bronies? Why doesn't any of the monarchs call themselves "King" or "Queen"? Why are some of the villains so bland in their goals? Why doesn't Spike the Dragon have wings? Is there a pony mating season? If so, how best does he avoid it? Why do some ponies wear clothing while the rest don't? What is that forsaken voice in his head, repeatedly telling him to go assist the main heroes in their adventure?

And most importantly: why does he find himself so attracted to a certain studious purple unicorn? Doesn't that go against all laws of... Well, wrongness?

All these questions will be answered as he traverses through this new world to find a way to return home.

This is his - and by that I mean my - story.

Author's Note:

This story was originally intended for Fanfiction.net only, and as a bedtime story for me to read to my little sister. But then I discovered this site and decided to also publish it here. There will be some tweaks and differences from the version on the other site. This will be the only Author's Notes for a while as well. Chapters will most likely be published weekly. I hope you like the grand tale of my sarcastic grumpy OC who is meant to reflect me in real life. Please inform me of any mistakes (i.e typos and grammar) I made in any of the chapters.

Why doesn't any of the monarchs call themselves "King" or "Queen"?

King Sombra & Queen Chrysalis do. It is my Head Canon that the title prince/princess means that the ruler accepts that there are limits to their power (i.e., a constitutional monarchy) but king/queen means they claim absolute authority. This is why these titles are reserved for the bad guys.

I have a free version of Grammarly installed, and it's goin' nuts over the fact that you said "doesn't," and wants it to be changed to "don't." You've already gotten me hooked with just the prologue, and I look forward to reading your story. I also think that it is very sweet of you for writing this for your sister. As much as I would like to read on, I have Spanish homework. Freshman year is kicking my butt, and if I don't get my Spanish done on time I instantly lose 40% of the grade, if I remember correctly... which means that in order not to get an F, I'll have to get every question right! And holy Toledo, look at the time- 9:00.

I'm not generally a fan of HIE stories because most of them tend to... Well... Almost always paint Humanity in a negative light and simplify all of human history with an enormous degree of ignorance. Nevertheless you have my interest from the simple fact this is 1.3 million words long.

So, with that in mind, let's get into the story!

Forced conformity is not necessarily a good thing in my opinion, regardless if one is a fan of the series or not. And from the start, this 'brony' has already succumbed to such in order to 'fit-in'.

Considering you now inhabit a body containing one of its world's inhabitants, despise your background and original species, and have already succumbed to conformity in order to 'fit-in', I'm curious to know what laws of 'wrongness' are you breaking.

All these questions will be answered as he traverses through this new world to find a way to return home.

Considering how long this story is, the possibility of him ever returning back to Earth is practically zero. I can already foresee that, not only will he slowly start to enjoy himself in the world of MLP, but there'll come a point where he'll look around and say something like "I am home" and then consummate his relationship with Twilight in a celebratory chapter.

Okay, you might have to work a little harder to make me like this story. Although I will try as it is not often I find a story of a million words. That's about as long as I plan on making the story of Ian's final adventure in his origin universe.
Also, this is the perfect combination of tags.

I am re-reading this. Although I never actually finished it in the first place, it was the first 1m+ word count story I ever read on this site. I think I got up to chapter 130 or around there before stopping. I'm not sure why I stopped, but I did. Now, In starting over, 4 or 5 months later. Wish me luck, as I embark on a Journey beyond Sanity.

Sorry about that last sentence, but I just had to. It was something the universe demanded.

Also, those two quotes were defiantly not me. I'm not sure where they are fromm, but it's not me. At least, not originally.
