TheLunarCelestia

Sup. I'm gonna go write stories now.

E

Twilight is learning a new spell, and it's much harder than she expected it to be. She goes to Pinkie Pie, and then Princess Celestia, for help.

Chapters (1)
Comments ( 6 )

5482959 Yeah... I know it wasn't very good, and I don't know a LOT of math(just at a freshmen level, when I''m in the eighth grade), but....
:fluttercry: ouch.
:rainbowhuh: and thanks?
I guess?

I'll admit, however, that this definitely isn't my best story. Actually, I would say that its probably worse than Opal's Big Adventure... and that might be saying something.

X = (248+545(15+210)7)/25(31-2)3 ? Easy.

Because the final part of the equation (everything after the '/') is not in parenthesis, the answer is X = 1.55 x 10^22. That is, assuming that the 7 and the 3 are meant to be exponents. If they are, you need to put in '^'. On the standard QWERTY keyboard, that is [Shift] + [6].

That was not even Algebra. That was Pre-Algebra. Twilight probably does Algebra in her head. It would probably take five+ variable Calculus to begin slowing her down, seeing as Teleportation is advanced spacial manipulation and probably needs 3~4 variables.

Edit: after thinking about it, Teleportation probably is 5 variable math. 3 variables to calculate the spatial dimensions of whatever is being teleported. 1 variable to factor in the mass of the target, and 1 variable for the distance being teleported. All of this is used to calculate the energy of the spell.

This would be a better 'complex' spell:

Z = (3Sin(X) + Tan(X1)^(Sin^-1(y)) / (4Cos(y1) - 2Cos(X2))
Where X = 45 deg and Z = 2
This is Calc combined with Trig. Much more difficult. That level of complexity may be what Twilight practices as a way to keep her mind sharp.

For those who have not reached Algebra II and beyond, all the cases where a variable has a small number next to it count as separate variables. It is pronounced as X sub y where y is the number/letter/whatever next to the variable. So X sub 1 and X sub 2 and so on.

5483592 :rainbowderp: wow.
Maybe the reason that the math wasn't very hard is because I'm in eighth grade(I am doing freshman algebra though)?

Anyways, this was kind of meant to be filler(i think?) while i try to write more.

This story is the child of writer's block.

also, i will go add those carats(that's how that is spelled right?) for the exponents.

I'm going to go read all of that again to try to understand.

EDIT: they are added!

5484652 I am sorry if I sounded insulting in my previous comment. The idea that Twilight would be stumped by anything less complex than Trigonometry or Calculus broke my suspension of disbelief. Remember, Twilight was able to calculate, or had memorized, the square root of five hundred forty-six in about a second (Most likely calculated. After all, why would she have all the square roots memorized up that far?). Canon proof that Twilight's skill is beyond my math skills (To be honest, I could not answer that Calc problem I put up there). That was the primary reason why I posted the answer and a new problem.

I was also offering an alternative idea for the sort of formula that could stump Twilight.

5485603 :twilightsmile: I didnt think you were being rude or insulting.
I think its pretty nice of you to try and help me with stuff like that.
