It's not good, yet not bad. The set up is nice, although a bit contrived. As far as characters go, they're pretty forgettable in this story, save for Sonata and even she barely passes. And even though Sonata isn't the smartest person out there, being from another world and being oh, I don't know, a siren, I'm having a hard time believing that she is this stupid. This is something that Patrick Star would fall for (at least before he became a jerkass prick).

Yeah, I doubt Sonata would take everything literally. She's just Pinkie-type whimsical. The story description made it sound like there would be more build-up to her asking Armour about his name. There pretty much wasn't any.
But it's a good reason I'll be changing almost everyone's names when I get to Equestria Girls. If I include Armour, would you prefer 'Sean' or 'Shawn?'

Anyone else have an opinion on Shawn vs Sean for EQG!Shining Armour's name? I have also decide to give them more standard hair colours, to match their more human skin tones... except for those who would dye their hair, like Rochelle (EQG!Rarity) and Diane (EQG!Pinkie). This means that Twilight will be one of those who stands out the most, appearance-wise.
