But We Will Carry On

Author's Note:

This is a very small idea that a friend and I though up. If I didn't have like four other stories going I would have made this an actual series, but...

"What if the Sirens and the Dazzlings were separate beings? Like possessed teenagers?"

Original Short Summary ((Deemed inadequate for fimfiction but I still think is important for the story)): We didn't want this. We just wanted to go home.

We just wanted to go home. Why would you do this? We were lost and alone... You took advantage of us!

It's okay. I forgive you. Just... Let us go soon, okay?

...Okay?

Hello? Is anyone there?

...Hello?

...I'm all alone now, aren't I?

Sonata... Aria...

We're still here, you know. Or... at least I am.

Aria? Sonata?

Where are you? I miss you...

Let us go! Please!

...Please...

Why do we have to hurt people? They didn't do anything to us! And feeding off of their pain... It's wrong.

You're monsters.

Let's just stop this! Let us go! Our bodies will give out soon... You'll have to find others.

Please let us go.

I'm so sorry. I know you're trapped here, just like we are. But isn't there a better way?

Do you have to feed off hate? Have you tried love? Maybe that could work?

I don't want to be here forever. Even if I'm immortal now, sitting here... Alone... In the dark...

This is no life. It's imprisonment.

And I will be free again.

Let us OUT! You can't keep us forever, I won't let you! I'll fight!

Let me and my sisters go! You have no right to keep us here.

Maybe--If I can get control for just a minute, and send a message to Aria and Sonata--

Aria! I heard her scream! What have you done?!

...

Sonata! No, no, please, let them go. I won't fight anymore, I promise, just... Just don't hurt them...

Please... Don't hurt them...

I saw Aria. She looks so angry all the time now. She's never been as happy as Sonata, but seeing her now...

She's changed. I guess I've changed, too. I used to be a peaceful leader. Keeping us out of trouble was enough for me.

Now... I couldn't care less about peace. One day my sisters and I will be free again.

Hurt me all you want. Your time is running out.

Once we overthrow this school, you'll have enough power to be independent from us, right? You'll let us go?

...

Yes, that's what I thought. Fine then. I'll help you, this one time... And then we're free. All of us.

...

Humanity?...That's a small price to pay.

Sunset Shimmer is in our way. We need to get to her first. If we separate her from the group, she'll give up, and their friendship will fall apart.

I told you to separate her, not break her!

You monsters.

I guess it doesn't really matter. Not when we're this close.

Th-the power... I can feel it... It feels...

Is this what you've been after this whole time? It's... amazing... And it's all ours...

The Rainbooms?! What are they doing?

They think they can beat us? Well they have another thing coming.

Let's show them what we can really do.

They're down and out.

Finally. Now, with this power, you'll leave, right?

...What do you mean? I can see you! You don't need us!

...Traitor. You meant this all along, didn't you? You used us!

You used me...

No. You're on your own. I believe Sunset Shimmer can beat you. It's taken us so long to get this far...

She can do it.

...Please...

It hurts. The full force of their magic hitting us... We're only human... But they don't know. I don't blame them.

I blame you. Now. Get. Out.

I suddenly became aware that I was... Aware. My body ached, my throat burned, my eyes watered...

I was back. The siren had released its hold on me. I was free.

"My head..." I heard Sonata moaned beside me.

Wait, Sonata?

"Stupid Rainbooms..." Aria's scratchy voice was the best sound I had heard in hundreds of years.

"Ahem." I looked up and saw Sunset Shimmer looking down at us. Not knowing what else to do, we cowered away from her as she took the gems that had sealed our fates all those years ago. The crowd behind us boo'ed and threw things at us, and we fled.

It was possibly the happiest moment of my life. The feel of the ground under my feet, Sonata's laugh, Aria's whoop of joy... We were back. True, things would never be the same, but that hardly seemed to matter at the time.

Aria tripped first, and I fell on top of her. Sonata jumped on me. I threw my head back and laughed, wrapping my arms around them.

"I missed you guys." I whispered, holding them close.

"I missed you, too." They said together. We sat like that for a long time. Just how long, I don't know, but the sun was coming up when I decided we should leave.

"What now, 'Dagi?" Sonata asked, more than a hint of fear in her voice.

"Yeah," Aria cut in, "Where do we go from here?"

"I don't know." I said, as calmly as I could, "But I think Twilight Sparkle could help us. She helped Sunset, remember?"

They nodded.

"But everyone's mad at us." Sonata whispered, looking sad again. I wrapped my arms around her and rested my cheek on the top of her head.

"We'll explain what happened. I'm sure we can work something out." I wasn't entirely sure, but I couldn't let my sisters suffer anymore than they already had. I'd give my life to help them; a few angry teenagers couldn't stand in my way.

"For now," I smiled at them and stood, pulling them along, "We just have to carry on. I don't know about you girls, but I still have some fight in me!"

you took a seed of darkness and made it blossom into something beautiful....

Also, 'friend'? I wonder who that may be.

Edit: seriously, I can't believe how much I like this. Maybe its because I've read way too many fics where they just keep on plotting, hating, fight among themselves, break up, or stuff like that.

but its refreshing to see them happy.

5467653 Why thank ya.

XD The world may never know, mwahahaha! (Didn't know if you'd want your name on this monstrosity!)

My body ached, but throat burned, my eyes watered...

my?

It was possible the happiest moment of my life.

possibly?

Aria's whoop for joy

of?

I love this. The idea of them being possessed gives them a sympathetic light and yet fits into reason as well. Favorite time!

That was pretty interesting though I don't like the idea that they was possessed

Wow. Surprising idea.
I am intrigued.:pinkiehappy:

Takes the idea of the sirens possesing the dazzlings as human girls (an idea I was never too fond of) and makes something interesting. The middle part made me feel slightly confused, but in a watching a weirdass movie by some crazyass director sort of way. While some parts just felt unecesary, since they seemed to do nothing but point out 'we're possesed and drag on a bit too long, the story itself felt the right length.

6/10

Good enough to earn a like, but could definately do better.

5542061 I wouldn't really call this a 'story' so much as me just writing down ideas/dialogue. But, of course, Fimfic has the "No story under 1000 words rule" and atm I'm not uploading my stories to any other sites right now. Originally, without fluffing it out, it was 6-700-ish words and actually had Adagio say more, but it wrapped up too quickly. Of course, expanding the story meant getting rid of some of her less-redundant dialogue and adding in some events from the movie (this was originally them up until the movie.)

Long story short: 1000 word limit is my enemy, and I can't set my priorities straight.

Ah, I see.

5542220 Thank you for your criticism of it. There were parts that I know are kinda junky, but hearing it from someone else tells me I'm not just paranoid!

It took until the last scene for it to make sense, but once I read it again, I loved the idea and how you attempted to write it. I think the reason most people don't really understand what is going on for the majority of the plot is because the story is really distanced (which in this case isn't necessarily a bad thing) and has no context before to make it work. If you added a scene at the beginning where you tell how the Dazzlings were possessed, it would make more sense when we are thrown into Adagio's mind and it is nothing but her internal voice (that is what you were doing, right?).

I like the idea a lot, though. I might try to do something similar to this at some point. I have a lot of ideas on how to make it in a different style.

5715421 Yeah, I think adding a prologue of some sort would be the best thing to do here. I'll get to doing that eventually.

And I would love to see what you have in mind for this kind of style! Maybe I could learn a thing or two from you.

I honestly don't know if I am a decent writer or not yet, but I'll see what I can do. Maybe we could do a collab of some kind.

While a bit confusing for the first few segments, this was really awesome to read! You did a great job taking the reader through the shifting mindsets of Adagio during her possession, and at times it was positively chilling. But the ending was beautifully positive in a way I very rarely see with the Sirens. Wonderful work!

So the sirens were in total control of the Dazzlings, right? That seems to be the case but Adagio keeps talking as if she has a degree of control. A small degree, but still.

I really liked this

An intriguing idea for sure.
