So, in this storyline, I guess the Apples and the Riches didn't help found Ponyville? Now, Silver Spoon, and her coltfriend Snips, are the bullies and Diamond Tiara is the bullied. Are Diamond Tiara and Twist going to be part of a new Cutie Mare Crusaders?

I have to admit, so far, this story looks pretty darn good. I like the idea of the group expanding their goals to include understanding their special talents instead of merely finding them. I also like how you're able to do what a lot of people seem to have difficulty with; depicting Diamond somewhat more sympathetically without sugar-coating the stuff she did before. I'll definitely be looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

Sweetie Belle has taken the role of Scootaloo;
Scootaloo has taken the role of Fluttershy;
and Babs has taken the role of Diamond Tiara?

same way Pinkie did in canon: via seeing a rainbow caused by Rainbow Dash. Here, the Rainbow was the result of Rainbow's first use of real magic to hatch Spike, Pinkamena was underground in the mine during the event, but her family weren't and managed to see it, sparking some change in their beliefs and causing them to decide to leave the farm.
Though not all of them spread laughter for good. LImestone renamed herself Prankie and goes around being a nuisance to ponies, as shown in this story and this one

Out of all of the changes to the characters' personalities for this verse, for some reason it's Scootaloo's that I'm having the hardest time buying.

Did I miss something? I didn't see any descriptions of cutie marks in this chapter. The descriptions may be in the 'pilot' story. I'll have to look for them when I get the chance.

And after rereading the last two chapters, I have to ask. Why is Scootaloo such a scaredy cat? And why is Babs Silver's main henchpony? What is she doing living in Ponyville anyway?

Rainbow's cutie mark is a rainbow coloured set of stars, similar to Twilight Sparkle's in canon. Scootaloo is a scaredy cat due to years of bullying and without someone like Rainbow Dash to act as a role model, she just sorta retreated into herself and just began to follow orders just cause it was easier to do so than to confront her aggressors or do anything about it. Babs just sorta came to Ponyville one day and she and Silver just sorta hit it off, she lacks the good qualities of canon Babs Seed...plus the fact that she's related to the Bad Apples may also be a factor in that their behaviour somewhat influenced her too.
