Thornwing

Just a little, old baby kitty...

Doctor Hooves has the solution for everything that ails Ponyville's most unique patients.

A fun little one-shot written originally for the December 2014 Writeoff competition under the prompt "Behind Closed Doors".

This story is meant as pure comedy with the potential to draw awareness to a very real and debilitating disorder.

Please note: This is NOT a Doctor Who crossover fic!

Don't put your story in the Doctor Whooves group if it isn't a Doctor Who Crossover. I came to this story hoping for Doctor Who/MLP shenanigans, and all I got was a psychiatrist. Seriously, remove this story from the group.

So any other purpose other than a 'crossover', which is clearly indicated by the lack of usage of the crossover tag, is not allowed in that group? Dang, bro. You need to use your eyeballs. He used the character in a different way than you liked. It doesn't take away the fact that he used the character. Therefore, it has the right to be in the group.

It's alright. I don't want to cause another group meltdown coming off of Writeoff entries (we already took down TL this month).

I'm glad some people enjoy the crossover genre so much. This was just a 'for fun' story to help get me through the hiatus.

Thanks for reading!

I don't hate this interpretation of The character. I think it's okay. The thing that irks me is that the story was put in a group for Doctor Who crossovers. Browsing anywhere in the group: the forums or other stories in the group will show that everyone there is there for Doctor Who crossovers.

The lack of a crossover tag in a Doctor Who crossover has occurred on several stories on this site. When I came to this story, after seeing it in the Doctor Whooves group, I thought it was a Doctor Who crossover story that was missing its crossover tag.

I do not hate this guy's story or its interpretation of a background character with no defined personality, I just told him to take his story off of the group made for crossovers of the Doctor Who variety.

Quoting the group description:

A group for stories staring (or featuring) everyones favorite Time Pony.

"Time Pony" is a ponified version of a Time Lord, which is the species of the main character in Doctor Who.

So yeah, sorry if I appeared a bit blunt and like a jerk.

Amazing how much difference some subtle edits can make. This version goes a long way toward fixing the things I grumbled about in the writeoff even though I don't think more than a few hundred words have changed. Good job with showing off how to do it right, for the benefit of those of us who had to double the size of our stories to make our changes. :raritywink:

I think the biggest thing I changed was having a more "true to first person" POV instead of the stream of thought spill from before.

Also, I added to a couple parts to help describe the "disorder" over "addiction" issues and cleaned up the ending.

Only about 650 words added, mostly in dialog and action tags.

not sure what more needs to be said besides that this syndrome needs to see the light of die. it is a serious infliction that affects the greatest of us. we need to spread word of this syndrome in hopes of finding a cure for it one day.

One way to a cure is by spreading the magic of friendship. If everyone had a little more pony in their lives, the whole world would be a better place.

/salute

yes, that is true, but the cycle would keep on repeating itself. it would be a never-ending cycle of friendship highs and lows. spreading the magic of friendship might only seem to do more harm than good. what the good ol' doc prescribed at the end might be the only way to funnel off any residuals of the magic of friendship.

I kinda want to read the session with rainbow dash

This was a lovely fic. Whooves character here is unique. I like the joke you made.

...damn. this is all over the place, almost like a real session with a psychiatrist. its also pretty dumb, but pretty funny, but pretty stupid and pointless, but i gotta say i like the characters and the writing itself apart from the plot. Weird story.

I didn't get the joke until it was spelled out in the end :rainbowlaugh: I like how it practically walked the line in between serious and bonkers. Sent me to a doozy, but an enjoyable read regardless.
